    Epic Star Wars Party Ideas

    Entertaining, Kids' Parties

When you’re planning an 8th birthday celebration for two superfans, you need epic Star Wars party ideas!

We’re talking original Star Wars good, not second-rate sequels!

Planning a Star Wars birthday party? Check out these epic Star Wars party ideas -- food, decorations, games, party favors, cool invitations.

Jackson recently celebrated his 8th birthday, and we had a joint party with his BFF since their birthdays are just a few weeks apart. Both boys are super-serious Star Wars fans, so it only made sense that we join Forces on their party.

Star Wars Birthday Party Ideas from AttaGirlSays.com

Well, actually, they were on opposite sides of the Force.

Since Darth Vader is his favorite character, Jackson was drawn to the Dark Side, while his best bud took on Jedi Master Yoda as his party persona.

A few months before the party, the boys dressed up as their favorite Star Wars characters for a photo shoot in our driveway. I shot their photos against a plain white backdrop because we had big plans for these shots — Photoshop plans.

What an awesome Star Wars movie poster birthday party invitation!

William’s grandfather used to be the art director for the tabloid newspaper, The Weekly World News, so he’s a master at photoediting. (What? You thought Bat Boy was real?)

William’s grandfather used my photos, plus shots of the Death Star and Millennium Falcon, to put Yoda and Darth Vader in battle. I added text, in the free Star Jedi font, to make the invitation look like a classic Star Wars movie poster.

    Pretty cool, huh?

    Star Wars Party Ideas: Food

William’s mom, Stacey, and I spent weeks collecting party inspiration, planning the menu and working on crafts and decoration — with lots of input (and a little bit of help) from the birthday boys.

Since ours was a mid-afternoon party, we served mainly snacks and sweets — lots and lots of sweets, which were a big hit with the kids.

Guests couldn’t get enough of Admiral Ackbar’s Snack Bar. It’s a hit!

I made the food labels with scrapbook paper and my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine, but you could easily make printable labels using Star Wars fonts.

Candy-dipped pretzel lightsabers, Bantha Bites candies (also from Vintage Confections), Carbonite Chocolates and R2-D2 Candies.

Stacey and I made these using Hans Solo in Carbonite and R2-D2 molds, with help from her mom, my mother-in-law and my husband, who used edible markers to decorate the R2-D2 chocolates. (You can see exactly how we made these Star Wars chocolate candies here.

I think I saw Yoda eat six of the Han Solo chocolates. Good food, hmmm!

Where did you find the skewers for the grapes?

Kelli, those skewers came from Walmart. They were made by Wilton, but sadly I think they’ve discontinued them. I’ve tried to find a source for them many times since we had the party, and I’ve never been able to do so. Wilton really should start making them again.

For the two signs you did on the gift table (Darth Jackson and Master William) do you have a cut file for Vader and Yoda image on them? If so, could I get them? We are doing Star Wars for my son and this make it so nice to cut them out for decor. Thanks You did awesome and I am using some for his birthday.

Thanks so much, Carrie. It definitely helped that it was a joint party with his BFF. We had two families working on it. We even put the grandparents to work. And it was all worth it because the birthday boys and their friends had a blast.
