    DIY No-Sew Fabric Clothes Hangers

    Crafting, Organizing

    green fabric clothes hangers

Organize and beautify your closet with easy-to-make no-sew fabric clothes hangers.

If you’re in the process of purging and organizing your closet, these fabric clothes hangers are a beautiful way to showcase and protect your clothes.

    green fabric clothes hangers

This is a great way to repurpose those wire hangers that nobody loves, while also using up scrap fabric. They’ll look so pretty hanging in your organized closet and your laundry room.

And no sewing skills are required, which is always a plus.

For this month’s No-Sew Showcase, we’re fluffing our nests for spring. I’m happy to be joining a group of talented bloggers with spring-themed fabric projects that don’t require a needle and thread.

    No-Sew Craft Projects for Spring

For tutorials on how to make each of these projects, be sure to read to the end of this post.

Now, on to my fabric-covered clothes hangers.

These pretty fabric-covered clothes hangers, made from ugly old wire hangers from the dry cleaner, are part of my spring nest fluffing.

    Supplies

    Wire clothes hangers

    disappearing ink fabric marker

    fabric

    hot glue

    ribbon

How to Make Fabric-Covered Clothes Hangers

Making a set of these pretty fabric clothes hangers  is a snap. No sewing or ironing required!

how to steps for making fabric clothes hangers out of wire hangers

    1. Start with wire clothes hangers from the dry cleaner.
    2. If your hangers have a paper cover, remove that and use it as a template, tracing on your fabric with an erasable fabric pattern marker.
    3. If you don’t have a paper template, just use your hanger, tracing around the edges; then flip it over and do it again to create a diamond-shaped pattern.
    4. Cut out from scrap fabric, allowing a 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch  seam allowance on each side.
    5. Starting at the top and what will be the front of your hanger, tuck under the raw edge and secure with glue.
    6. Working from the center outward, fold fabric over the edge of the hanger and secure with hot glue.
    7. At the edge of the hanger, be sure to fold over and secure any raw edges.
    8. Once the top of hanger is complete, fold the fabric over the bottom and pull tightly. Fold edges under and secure to hanger with hot glue.

    No-Sew Fabric Covered Clothes Hanger

Tie a coordinating ribbon around the top of the hanger to finish. You can secure the ribbon with a dot of hot glue, if you like.

I’m dropping by from the Dream Create Inspire link party. This is such a fabulous idea! Sometimes I have something that slips off the wire hangers and these covered hangers would help to keep my clothes on the hangers and NOT on the floor! I also love how cute these are and that you can have lots of different fabrics to make the hangers look really cute!

I have a link party that I am trying to grow. I invite you to share this idea (and a couple of others) at my Grandma Ideas Sharing Time link up at http://grandmaideas.com. I think my readers would LOVE this idea, too.

My linkup is open Wednesday through Friday at midnight. I hope to see you there!

I also have a giveaway going where you can win 3 DVDs: Woman in Gold, Big Eyes, and The King’s Speech AND a $25 gift certificate. I hope you’ll drop by to enter for a chance to win. http://grandmaideas.com/woman-in-gold-dvd-giveaway

      All the best,
      Nina

Sorry I’m just getting around to visiting everyone! This is so cute, Amy! I love the fabric, too. Now you just need to make a closet full of matching ones for an organizing post. Genius, isn’t it?

I have too many clothes and I enjoy having fingerprints too much to make a closet full of these. (Ouch — hot glue burns.) But I think some handmade hangers would make a perfect wedding gift…

These are such a cute idea. They would save many of my cotton knit shirts from getting those horrible hanger bumps! I love the quilted hanger! So fun working with the no-sew gals!

Amy these are so cute. I may have to make a few of these for Miss Caity’s room when we do a makeover soon. I can see lots of cute pink fabrics with her sweet dresses hanging on them. Great idea and so easy too. I love my machine, but honestly No Sew is fabulous too. <3
