    Mason Jar Stenciled Chair

    Furniture Painting

You know how I have a thing for mason jars?

    And stenciled chairs?

Mason Jar Stenciled Chair in Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Eulalie's Sky

This is what happens when I combine those two loves.

A gorgeous chair, painted in Eulalie’s Sky Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint.

Here’s how my  chair looked before its transformation.

    Boring!

(FYI, I am including affiliate links in this tutorial. If you click and make a purchase from these links, I will earn a small commission.)

With just a couple of coats of milk paint, the chair was already starting to look better. (I love Eulalie’s Sky!)

As I’ve done with my other stenciled chair makeovers, I used my Silhouette Cameo to make a custom stencil for the chair.

To make the perfect mason jar stencil, I used this jar shape from the Silhouette store and added the words Perfect Mason (the font is Arial Narrow) and the Ball logo from an image I found online.

For more details about this stenciling technique, you may want to check out the tutorial for my Sinclair dinosaur stool.

I filled in the logo and jar outline with DecoArt Chalky Finish Paint in Everlasting. Then, I painted the lines in the jar lid with DecoArt Americana Multi-Surface Paint in Battleship.

When the paint had dried slightly, but not completely, I carefully removed the vinyl stencil and went back over the jar lid with DecoArt American Multi-Surface Metallic Paint in Silver to make it look like an antique zinc mason jar lid.

I distressed the chair slightly with a sanding block and finished it with a topcoat of Miss Mustard Seed’s furniture wax.

I’m just a little bit in love!

Wow! Great idea – I love how dramatic a change you made with just a few supplies. I’d never have looked twice at this chair in it’s original state. Now I want it in my house!

Thanks, Ashley. My whole house may turn into mason jars central if I don’t reign in my obsession.

Thanks, Jane. I love painting little stenciled chairs for some reason. Well, I hate painting those spindles, but I love the finished result, so I do it anyway.
