Jeweled Christmas Wreath Made with Vintage Jewelry

Christmas Crafts, Craft Tutorials, Crafting, Holiday & Seasonal Crafts, Recycled Crafts

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

Two years ago, I spotted a gorgeous jeweled Christmas wreath in the Grandin Road catalog.

The wreath was covered in snowy white pinecones and embellished with vintage rhinestone jewelry and a red satin bow, and it was astronomically expensive.

But I saved the photo and recreated the look using keepsakes from my jewelry box and vintage jewelry I’ve collected from yard sales and antique stores.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

I think my jeweled Christmas wreath is every bit as gorgeous as the inspiration. And it’s even more special because many of the jewels I used have sentimental meaning to me.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

There are the shoe clips I wore in a wedding, a pin from my mom, a snowflake pendant from a friend and some vintage rhinestone earrings from my grandmother.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

And a whole lot of bling I’ve hoarded gathered over the years.

Now let me show you how I made it. I’m excited to be kicking off Christmas crafting and decorating season by joining some other bloggers in a wreath showcase. Be sure to check out their creations at the end of this post.

This post contains affiliate links, but I only recommend products I love. Read my full disclosure policy here.

Supplies to Make a Jeweled Christmas Wreath

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

    • Mini Pine & Holly Wreath
    • Mini Flocked Pine Cones (mine came from Michael’s)
    • Mini Evergreen bundle (mine came from Michael’s)
    • 2.25-inch wide red satin ribbon</li>
    • Hot glue
    • Glue gun
    • Floral wire
    • Wire cutters
    • Snowflake picks (mine came from At Home)
    • Assorted rhinestone pins, buttons and earrings

How to Make a Jeweled Christmas Wreath

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

I started off by hot gluing some flocked miniature pine cones to the mini white wreath I bought at Michael’s. I added just a few to begin with, leaving room for the rhinestone jewelry and other embellishments.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

Next, I used hot glue and floral wire to attach the evergreen branches and berries to give the wreath some color.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

Whenever I make wreaths, I usually find it helpful to hang them so I can get the placement of the florals picks, bows and other embellishments just right.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

So, I moved the wreath to a door to add the satin bow and the rhinestone jewelry (and to spread the glitter all around my craft room!)

To make the perfect bow for my wreath, I followed the instructions in this YouTube video. I hot glued the bow to the wreath, then added a rhinestone button to the center. Be careful about where you place the button, as you don’t want it weighing down your bow.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

Because many of the vintage jewelry pieces I used in my wreath have sentimental value and I’d like to wear them again, I did not glue them to the wreath. Instead I either pinned, clipped or wired them, so they are removable.

Once I placed the jewelry, I added more pinecones, greenery and some snowflake floral picks to fill out the wreath.

Bring a little sparkle and shine (and lots of glitter!) to your Christmas decorating by making a jeweled Christmas wreath using vintage rhinestone jewelry.

In case you were interested, here’s a side-by-side comparison of my knockoff jeweled Christmas wreath with the Grandin Road original.

Save money by making a knockoff version of this pricey Grandin Road jeweled Christmas wreath using craft store florals, snowy pinecones and vintage rhinestone jewelry and buttons.

A pretty spot-on interpretation, for a lot less money!
