Fall Tealight Candle Holders Made From Oui Yogurt Jars

Crafting, Fall Crafts, Holiday & Seasonal Crafts, Recycled Crafts, Thanksgiving Crafts

Collage photo titled Fall Votives in Oui Yogurt Jars. The top photo shows a tealight candle holder decorated with cinnamon sticks, anise star and seed pods with a stack of old books and small red apples in the background. Dress up your home for fall with this glass yogurt jar craft. Gather natural materials from your yard, or use miniature pumpkins from the craft store, to create pretty seasonal tealight candle holders.

Winter, spring, summer and fall. I’m working my way through the seasons with another glass yogurt jar craft that I think you’re going to love.

closeup of a glass yogurt jar candleholder decorated with miniature seed pods, acorn, raffia and a cinnamon stick. The votive is sitting on an old book with a blue glass mason jar and crabapples in the background

How pretty are these fall glass tealight candle holders? They feature a mix of natural elements and miniature fall decor from the craft store.

Get Inspired with Dozens of Glass Yogurt Jar Crafts

They’re just one of the many pretty and useful things you can make from upcycled glass yogurt jars.

I even used dried orange slices from potpourri on some of the jars.

I’m sharing the tutorial for this glass yogurt jar craft as part of a fall ideas tour with some of my favorite bloggers. You’ll find links to fall mantels, fall tablescapes, fall DIY and craft projects, fall recipes and gorgeous fall porches at the end of this post.

Now, let me show you how to make your own fall glass yogurt jar craft.

    Supplies

glass yogurt jars (Weck tulip jars would also work)

    raffia

acorns, miniature pumpkins, seed pods, cinnanom sticks and other natural decor

    hot glue gun

    tealight candles

    Goo Gone

overhead photo with a hot glue gun, glass yogurt jar, raffia and miniature pumpkins, acorns and seed pods on a white background

    Instructions

You can buy new glass yogurt jars for this project, but I love recycling the Yoplait Oui jars for this glass yogurt jar craft.

two jars of Oui yogurt sitting on a marble countertop

The hardest part of this project is removing the labels. I recommend using Goo Gone to dissolve the adhesive on the labels. The jars will be oily, so I recommend running them through the dishwasher or hand washing. Use rubbing alcohol to remove any remaining residue.

glass yogurt jar with raffia tied around the neck

Tie several pieces of raffia around the neck of the jar. I recommend adding a dab of glue under the knot so the raffia doesn’t slip down the jar. You may also want to add a bit of glue under the raffia on the backside of the jar, as well.

a hot glue gun gluing a sweet gun ball to the neck of a glass yogurt jar

Next, decorate the jars using natural materials, like sweet gum balls, miniature pine cones, cinnamon sticks, anise seed, dried fruit slices, acorns, seed pods and even sticks from your yard.

a hot glue gun gluing a sweet gun ball and orange seed pods to the neck of a glass yogurt jar

For my jars, I used a mix of natural materials, potpourri and store bought items from my fall decor stash. I’m all for using what you have on hand.

Just keep layering on items until you like the look. Trim the raffia, as necessary.

Once the glue had dried, add tealight candles to the jars. Battery-powered tealights are great because you don’t have to worry about fire risk and you can leave them on all the time.

fall centerpiece with crabapples, fall squash, old books, tealight candle holders and blue mason jars, a wood slice and a burlap tablecloth

I’m using these fall tealight candle holders as a simple centerpiece on our kitchen table. They look so pretty set on top of old books and displayed alongside crabapples, fall squash and antique blue mason jars.

      Amy,.
These little candle holders are so adorable! And even better, you’re able to reuse something that was destined for the recycle bin! So glad you joined the tour again this year.

These are so pretty and cute at the same time. I love Oui yogurt. I’m going to have to save my jars next time I buy some to make these beauties. I usually recycle them and then I want to pull them back out of the bin. Now, I’ll actually have a reason to save them. Score!

You definitely need to save them. I have a special place I keep them in my pantry, waiting for inspiration to strike.
