Foyer Decorating Ideas for Fall Featuring Pastel Colors & Velvet Pumpkins

Who says pumpkins have to be orange? If traditional autumn colors don’t work in your home, you’ll love these foyer decorating ideas featuring pastel colors, velvet pumpkins, mercury glass, gilding and vintage items.

While soft pastel colors aren’t typically associated with fall, they’re right at home in my fall foyer decor.

Velvet pumpkins, gilded frames, mercury glass candlesticks, and vintage finds greet visitors, creating a welcoming entryway that is reflective of color- and patterned-filled home.

That’s probably one of my favorite foyer decorating ideas and bits of home wisdom: make an impression and tell your story.

When you walk into our foyer and you see this aqua painted buffet, colorful pink rug and collection of mercury glass candlesticks and vintage finds, you’re getting a glimpse into my style. You’ll see many of these same colors and collections as you tour from room to room.

Pastel Fall Decorating Ideas

A beautiful peony painting from a local artist provided the perfect backdrop for these pink velvet and ceramic pumpkins in a vintage compote bowl.

I mixed in some ceramic pumpkins and vintage pottery, too, alongside mercury glass votives and vases.

I used more ceramic pumpkins and a mismatched collection of mercury glass candlesticks on the other side of the buffet. I added a strand of frosted sea glass beads and some gilded some frames to match the stems on the pumpkins.

Instead of crunchy leaves, I mixed some preserved boxwood into my fall foyer decor. It only seemed fitting since summer stretches way into fall here in the south. This week is the first time it’s actually felt like fall, but I’m not convinced the cooler temps are sticking around.

I’m hoping, but not convinced.
