Pamper your skin with a DIY eye cream made with moisturizing coconut oil, honey and lavender and frankincense essential oils.

Everybody needs a spa day, and this month’s Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box delivers one right to your mailbox. In addition to the six DIY beauty recipes featured in the August box, I’m sharing a bonus recipe for a moisturizing DIY eye cream.

DIY lavender eye cream in a metal tin with essential oils in the background

This DIY eye cream is made with honey, coconut oil, shea butter, lavender essential oil and frankincense essential oil.

Most of the ingredients are from the Simply Earth August box or the Big Bonus box that new subscribers receive when they sign up.

    This month’s box includes:

    • Rosemary essential oil
    • Frankincense essential oil
    • Clove essential oil
    • Clean Skin essential oil blend
    • Lavender hydrosol
    • Compressed sheet mask
    • Recipe cards and stickers for six natural DIY beauty products

I’ll be sharing some sneak peeks of the included recipes in my Instagram stories this week. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram so you can join in on the at-home spa fun!

ingredients to make DIY eye cream

The natural ingredients used  in this DIY eye cream are moisturizing and gentle for the delicate skin around your eyes.

DIY eye cream with lavender and other essential oils on a floral towel

Coconut oil is an emollient, helping to retain moisture, counteract dryness and soften the skin. Shea butter, which is great for dry and chapped skin, helps improve elasticity. Honey has skin brightening properties. Frankincense and lavender essential oils are both very gentle and good for dry and mature skin.

Ingredients & Supplies for DIY Eye Cream

    • glass jar or measuring cup
    • measuring spoons
    • spoon for stirring
    • 2 Tablespoons shea butter
    • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil
    • 1 teaspoon beeswax
    • 1/2 teaspoon raw honey
    • 2 drops lavender essential oil
    • 2 drops frankincense essential oil
    • small tin containers or plastic jars

How to Make DIY Eye Cream

Combine coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax pellets in a medium glass measuring cup or mason jar.

measuring beeswax to make DIY eye cream

Melt the oils in the microwave or using a double boiler method.

If using a microwave, heat for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue heating in 10 second bursts, stirring after every 10 seconds, until the oil, butter and beeswax are melted.

If using the double boiler method, place the glass jar or measuring cup in a pan filled with two inches of water. Heat over medium-low, stirring frequently, until all the oil, butter and beeswax has liquified.

Allow the mixture to cool and thicken for a few minutes, then stir in the raw honey.

adding raw honey to DIY eye cream

Stir for at least one minute, or more, until the honey is completely incorporated. (It will have a tendency to separate if the oil mixture is too hot.)

Finally, add two drops of lavender essential oil and two drops of frankincense essential oil. Stir to mix completely.

tin containers filled with DIY eye cream made with essential oils

Pour or spoon the DIY eye cream into tin containers into small plastic jars. Allow mixture to cool and solidify before adding the tops to the containers.

While the ingredients in this DIY eye cream are very gentle, you should be careful not to get this cream in your eyes. As with any new beauty product or regimen, you should use caution when applying, and you may want to test on a less delicate patch of skin before applying to the eye area. Discontinue use if any irritation occurs.

If you enjoy making your own homemade bath, beauty and cleaning products using essential oils and natural ingredients, you’ll love the Simply Earth subscription box.

Every month, Simply Earth sends out a new, themed Essential Oil Recipe Box to subscribers. Each monthly subscription box includes all the ingredients, containers and extras you need to make six natural recipes for less than $40.

DIY acne spot treatment recipe made with clear skin essential oil blend and almond oil

This Clear Skin Roll On acne treatment is one of the recipes included in the August box.

Right now, new subscribers also get a big Bonus Box that includes lots of items you can use to make homemade bath and beauty products. The box includes beeswax, which is great for making lip balms or hand salves, solid coconut oil that you can use in lotions, and two carrier oils, plus essential oil blend bottles and rollerball bottles.
