DIY Christmas Snow Globe Ornaments

Use recycled glass jars and miniatures to make these adorable DIY Christmas snow globes for your tree.

My mom used to collect Christmas snow globes, and every year she’d add a new one to her collection. I’ve always enjoyed looking at the miniature scenes. They’re like a perfect capsule of Christmas magic.

These DIY Christmas snow globes are actually ornaments you can hang on your tree. They are made from recycled jars, craft supplies and miniature figures from Dollar Tree.

I think I may give this one to my mom to add to her collection of Christmas snow globes.

Supplies

• Miniature jar
• Mini bottle brush trees
• Miniature figurines
• Hot glue
• Tweezers
• Miniature snow pellets or fake snow
• Metallic craft paint
• DecoArt Decou-Page medium
• Glitter
• Tinsel or ribbon

Instructions

I used a small jar of ice cream topping walnuts to make my snow globe ornament.

A small mustard or baby food jar would also work well. Just make sure it’s tall enough to hold your miniatures.

Use Goo Gone to remove any labels from the jar wash and dry it thoroughly.

Paint the jar lid with several coats of metallic paint to cover any labeling or writing. Once the paint is dried, apply a thin coat of Decou-Page medium to the jar lid and sprinkle with glitter.

Allow to dry completely.

Place a bottlebrush tree and figure into the bottom of the jar. Once you’ve determined the placement, use hot glue to attach them to the bottom of the jar. Tweezers are useful for placement.

When the glue has dried, add snow pellets to the jar. (Dollar Tree has several different sizes of these pellets.)

Use hot glue to attach tinsel or ribbon, looped to make a hanger, to the underside of the jar lid. Place the lid on the jar tightly. Add more tinsel or ribbon around the jar, if desired.

Then all that’s left is to hang it on the tree!
