I’m continuing with the red-white-and-blue theme this week with another patriotic Fourth of July craft that our entire family had a hand in making!
I have a love affair with mason jars. I use them for their intended purpose of food storage and canning. But we also drink out of them. I collect vintage examples, and I love. creating mason jar decorations and crafts for whatever party I’m planning at the moment!
These colorful sand art centerpieces added such a festive touch to our patriotic picnic.
And did I mention they were easy to make?

Begin by pouring some blue sand in the bottom of the mason jar.
Top with white sand.
Finish with a layer of red sand. Nestle tealight candles or sparklers in the top layer of sand.
There’s no right or wrong way to do these. You may opt for three bands of sand — or more. And you can start with the red or blue. Just make sure the white is in the middle if you’re trying to be patriotic.
For our party, we lined the mason jar decorations on our buffet table.
And on a toolbox turned coffee table!
The sand art looks very festive with tealight candles burning in them.
But we really loved sticking sparklers in the sand — and lighting them!
What a fun tabletop fireworks show!
Don’t forget to pin it so you can make these with your family.
Here are a few of my favorite mason jar projects:
