Christmas 2012 House Tour: The Front Porch

Christmas Decor, Decorating, Holiday & Seasonal, Home Tour

After a delayed start and some speed bumps along the way in the form of burned out lights and sad looking trees, I’m proclaiming my Christmas decorating done!

This week, I’ll be sharing my decorated home with you.

We’ll start on the front porch.

front porch decorated for christmas with sled and evergreen and poinsettia and trees

I went traditional in my color choices – red and green with a little natural, vintage and rustic thrown in.

decorated Christmas sled front porch decor from AttaGirlSays.com

An old wooden sled is adorned with a simple wreath and bow and a red metal B — our monogram.

As you step up to our front door, you’re greeted by two lighted trees decorated with simple glass ornaments filled with paper and Epsom salt and bits of nature.

Epsom salt frosted glass Christmas ornament by AttaGirlSays.com

Some are frosted with Epsom salts. We made these last Christmas eve.

    What fun. What a mess.

I think I may add some red bows to them to make them pop on the trees. What do you think?

I kept things fairly simple on the porch.

    lantern filled with Christmas ornaments

This lantern is filled with silver ornaments and adorned with a simple red bow.

antlers in evergreen Christmas wreath by AttaGilrSays.com

I’ve shown you my evergreen and antlers Christmas wreath before. But it’s one of my favorite porch elements, so I have to show you again. Love that jute ribbon!

sit a spell chair with arrangement made of old garden hoe decorated for Christmas

My Sit a Spell chair got a Christmas makeover thanks to this charming arrangement my neighbor’s mother made for me. I love how she incorporated a rusty old garden tool in the arrangement.

Don’t forget to look over you shoulder at the side porch.

side porch decorated for Christmas with snowflake pillows and gray chevron rug and antique toolbox

It’s quite an inviting space, I think. I love how the green antique tool box and the red snowflake pillows pop off my gray chevron rug that was a One Kings Lane find.

red snowflake pillow from Target Threshold for Christmas

And those pillows were a Target purchase, part of my beloved Threshold line.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look at my holiday front porch, all decorated for Christmas. You can see my front porch decorated for other holidays and seasons here.

And later this week, I’ll be opening the front door and inviting you inside.

Before you go, two quick things I want to mention.

I was snapping away taking pretty photos of my porch, when I realized someone had played a trick on me.

    snake in the Christmas sled

I screamed, not because I thought it was real. Six-year-olds aren’t that sly.

Nope, I screamed because I realized I was going to have to shoot everything again!

Finally, tomorrow, don’t forget to stop by for the Better Late Than Never Christmas Inspirations Linky party. It opens Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. EST. I can’t wait to learn more about your holiday recipes, decor, traditions, crafts and inspirations.

I bought the metal B from a local shop called Total Bliss, then painted it red.

Here’s contact information from Total Bliss; I’m not sure if they still carry them, but the owner, Nancy, is super-nice and she may be able to put you in touch with her supplier.

        Good luck.

Okay, I really love what you did with the sled. I have my own childhood one on the front porch but i was given a smaller one that is actually a vintage aqua-ish shade and I am already thinking about a white wreath on it……
I will let you know what I do with it and will link back to you as inspiration when i do if that is okay???

      Hugs,
      Deb

      Amy
Your porch is fabulous – love that old sled!

Of course, no Christmas porch is complete without a fake snake! I bet that made you writhe around doing the worm!

I love the porch Amy! Everything looks great… I must say that I died laughing at the snake on the sleigh and can totally sympathize. I found a cobra in the middle of my nativity last week! Gotta love boys. 🙂
