Somewhere, buried deep in my closet, there’s a cardigan festooned with Christmas lights.
My very own ugly Christmas sweater. I bought it. I wore it. I thought it was festive!
Well, at least I have something to wear to this virtual ugly Christmas sweater party my friend, Angie, at The Country Chic Cottage is hosting!
I had such a fun time creating a craft for the ugly Christmas sweater party!
These Christmas sweater gift tags are so ugly they’re cute! And they’re a great family craft or hands-on activity for your own ugly sweater party.
My husband made this sweater! It looks like something Charlie Brown might wear at Christmas!
These are a cinch to make, and it’s fun to see everyone’s creativity and take on the ugly Christmas sweater.
Gather up a bunch of colorful card stock, printed scrapbook paper, scissors, glue, tape and miscellaneous craft supplies and let the fun begin!
You’ll also need my free Ugly Christmas Sweater Pattern. Click HERE or on the photo above to print out a non-watermarked version.
There’s no wrong way to make these gift tags, and I really do encourage you to get creative with the craft supplies you have on hand.
Here are a few items you may want to use (list contains affiliate links):
- holiday craft punches
- small metal clothes hangers
- small clothespins
- felt
- ball fringe or pom-pom trim
- rick rack
- burlap scrapbook paper
- glitter paint
- ribbon
- washi tape
- decorative brads
- glitter Duck Brand duct tape
- craft tinsel
- rubber stamps
If you have a die-cutting machine, like the Sizzix Big Shot, try embossing a few of your ugly sweaters. I used a snowflake embossing folder to create the pattern on the blue sweater above.
Once you’re finished making your ugly sweaters, bend some craft wire into a clothes hanger shape, like I did, and attach to the back of your tag with tape.
Or get some small metal clothes hangers or small clothespins from the craft store and attach them to your packages with ribbon or baker’s twine.
You could also use the twine to make a festive garland decoration if you’re throwing your own ugly Christmas sweater party!
