    Thanksgiving Embroidery Hoop Art Silhouettes

Craft Tutorials, Crafting, Holiday & Seasonal Crafts, Thanksgiving Crafts

I’ve been quite taken with all the seasonal embroidery hoop art I’ve been seeing around the Internet.

No-Sew Thanksgiving Embroidery Hoop Art Silhouettes

Since I’m not a seamstress, I had to come up with a no-sew version for this month’s no-sew showcase with my blogging pals at StoneGable and Confessions of a Plate Addict.

And now I’m quite smitten with my little pilgrim pair.

No-Sew Thanksgiving Embroidery Hoop Art Silhouettes

Let me show you how easy they were to make.

I started with some muslin yardage, stretched in a wooden embroidery hoop.

No need to iron the fabric, just stretch the wrinkles out, then flip and trim as close to your hoop as possible.

Next, print out your pilgrim silhouettes, sized to fit your embroidery hoops. Then trim them out using paper snips. I used this pilgrim and lady pilgrim for my Thanksgiving embroidery hoop art.

Use a quilting marker to trace your silhouette onto the fabric.

Use fabric paint or multi-purpose craft paint (I used DecoArt MultiSurface Satin in Black Tie) to first outline your silhouette and then fill it in. Be sure to use long, even strokes. Allow to dry and apply a second or third coat, as needed.

Finish by hot gluing a bow and ribbon hanger to the top of the embroidery hoop.

Love this idea! I have a large bag of embroidery hoops that my friend bought me at a thrift store. Your project is perfect for using two of them. I’m pinning and scheduling a share on FB tomorrow!
