You don’t have to spend a lot of money add seasonal touches to your home. My spring home decorating ideas will show you how to blend what you already have with vintage and secondhand finds to create a stunning seasonal space you’ll love. Join me for a virtual tour of my living room, filled with gorgeous flowers, pretty bird motifs and colorful, vintage touches.
I have to let you in on a little secret.
As you scroll your way through these bright, sun-drenched photos of my spring living room, you’re probably envisioning me frolicking around in sandals and the cutest sundress you’ve ever seen.
If only that were so…
Because outside those windows, it’s actually snowing. In spring. In North Carolina. And I’m bundled up in my warmest PJs and fuzzy socks, looking anything but cute and springy!
But it feels like spring in my heart and in my home. And since there’s no pollen inside, that might even be better than the real thing!
I’m excited to be participating in the Styled for Spring Home Tour, organized by Jenna from Wife in Progress. All this week, my blogging friends are welcoming you into our homes and sharing our favorite spring home decorating ideas.
If you’re visiting from Home Made Lovely, welcome! Isn’t Shannon’s home stunning? Jaw dropping!
As you can probably already tell, I love vintage decor and brights pops of color and pattern. I’m a southern girl who never quite outgrew my preppy period, so I’m drawn to traditional style with an eclectic twist. I believe in formal dining rooms and formal living rooms, and I scour thrift stores and yard sales for china, crystal, antique brass, silver, pottery and anything else that speaks to me!
To get the living room ready for spring, I vowed not to buy anything new, except for flowers. Most of what you see throughout the space I’ve “had for a while,” as I like to tell my husband! I did pick up a few small things at secondhand stores these last few weeks. But I bought nothing new for my spring home decorating.
When you decorate and buy what you love, instead of trying to follow the trends, you’ll find that it’s easy to add seasonal touches by mixing, matching and moving around what you already have.
This ceramic bird was one more recent find. What says spring more than a bird perched near a stack of nests? But I can also use this bird at the holidays by pairing it with different colors and textures.
For spring, the bird is sitting atop some colorful and inspiring craft and decorating books that match my living room and my design aesthetic!
This woven compote was $13 at the thrift store — a fraction of the price of a similar Ballard Designs piece. It’s brimming with boxwood balls, my collection of blown glass ornaments, nests and more birds!
Our family actually made the three small glass ornaments in this terrarium over the holidays. They’re too pretty to use only at Christmas.
This little seating area features another favorite vintage find — a French settee that was my first furniture purchase after we got married.
This embroidered peacock pillow reminds me of the regal bird my fried Sara and I met on our girl’s trip to Orlando.
The window panel beside the settee came from Kirkland’s. I love changing out the artwork with the seasons.
I made the vintage botanical artwork using some decoupage elements from Anna Griffin and paper I embossed with my Sizzix.
When I’m finished displaying them as art, I’ll use these to make greeting cards.
The tulip theme continues with these Belgian vintage wooden shoes. Turns out wooden shoes are great for decorating!
I’ve had these vintage bulb bags in my decorating stash for more than a year, waiting for the perfect time to use them. (I’ll be sharing a cute printable project inspired by these bags soon! Be sure to come back next week to see it)
This pink Duncan Phyfe writing desk that my mom painted for me is a great place to jot a quick note.
These postcards from Lindsay Letters did a turn on my windowpane art display over the holidays. Now, I can mail them to sweet friends.
How perfect is this brass inkwell? I couldn’t believe my luck when I found it at the thrift store!
This little desk showcases a lot of my favorite vintage finds.
Brass candlesticks. Vintage glass. Alabaster Easter eggs. And some special family keepsakes, like my grandmothers’ miniature tea set and brass pill case.
Thanks so much for stopping by to tour our spring living room. I hope I’ve inspired you to shop vintage and use what you already own and love as you embark on your own spring home decorating projects.

Amy ! All these blues and pinks are Spring perfection! I love all the details you’ve scattered throughout your home to usher in the season. That window with all the DIY yumminess of your embossed artwork has me swooning! So beautiful my friend!

Thanks so much, Jen! I had a lot of fun playing around with all my paper craft supplies to make that artwork. It had been a while since I broke out my card-making supplies, and now I’m hooked again. The life of a crafter/creative person!
