    • Instructions

Lightly sand the paneled clock to smooth the surface and the edges. I’ve found it helps to sand between the panels, as the edges can be a bit rough.

I opted to use three different shades of pink and red DecoArt Americana acrylic paint on my pallet clock. But you could also use five, or use an ombre effect, going from dark to light.

For my clock, I painted the center panel of the clock in True Red. Depending on how much coverage you want, you’ll need one or two coats.

Next, I painted the two adjacent panels in Peony Pink, and painted the two outside panels in Poodleskirt Pink.

When dry, I painted the outer edge of the clock in Peony Pink.

Next, I painted two wooden hearts in Peony Pink and two others in True Red.

Don’t forget to paint the edges. Allow to dry completely.

After the hearts dried, I used wood glue to attach the them to the clock face in the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions.

Finally, I assembled the clock movement, according to the instructions on the package. You can use the small hands that come with the clock movement or purchase larger clock hands.

For my clock, I went with some large, black decorative clock hands because I liked how they contrasted with the bright paint colors.

Be still my heart — I love how this turned out!
