Turn back now before it’s too late…
You’ve been warned…
Our last guests didn’t fare so well.
We so rarely have guests, and when we do, they never return.
Such a shame, too, as the house is all decorated for the All Things Home Halloween Showcase, where 15 bloggers are sharing their Halloween decorating ideas, recipes, crafts and general mayhem and mischief.
Welcome to our Halloween Hotel of Horror. (Can you tell I’ve had “Hotel California” running through my head all week?)
The table is all set for a feast.
Having you for to dinner will be a real treat…
Please take a seat…
Anywhere you like.
Well, maybe not there.
And the ghosts and poltergeists can get a little upset if someone takes their spot.
I hope you like (blood) red wine. It’s the only thing we drink here!
And I do hope you like organ meats.
If not, perhaps you would prefer something under glass. It’s cook’s speciality.
We don’t have pheasant under glass, but we have some other nice selections.
Come now, let’s return to the table.
It’s getting late, and the candles are melting away.
You wouldn’t like it when it gets dark here.
Our last guest didn’t survive the fright.
May he rest in peace.
Poor man. Those roses are souvenirs keepsakes from his grave.
I hope we did not tarry too long at dinner, dear visitor.
I’d like to show you around the rest of our home.
Do you like to read, dear guest?
The classics, perhaps?
Or maybe Edgar Allan Poe?
I do enjoy his stories. But the man was quite mad. And I did not like how he disparaged the raven. Nevermore, Mr. Poe. Nevermore!
I keep a few ravens myself. Crows, too. They make wonderful pets.
I enjoy all of God’s creatures.
Brr. Did you feel a chill?
It felt like someone was walking across my grave.
Strange things happen in this house.
Sometimes I feel as if someone is trying to send me a message.
But I am sure it’s just my imagination.
Before you leave, there’s someone I want you to meet.
My progeny.
We’ll find him outside…
Tending to his bats…
…in his Playhouse of Horrors.
He’s so good with the bats.
And yes, they are vampire bats. But they only bite at night.
My boy is such an angel, as you can see.
But I do wish he would keep his lair clean.
We have a little bit of a rat problem.
The zombies are bad here, too.
But we’ve devised a way to keep them out…
…for now.
I have kept you for far too long. Though, if I had my way, you would never leave.
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
I must let you go to visit the other All Things Home Halloween Showcase bloggers.

This is the best Halloween house tour! Love your narrative. It makes me want to NEVER visit. But secretly, I want to come for dinner, well you know, not be eaten for dinner! 🙂
Atta Girl Amy
I can make an exception for you. We won’t eat you if you come for Halloween dinner, but we might scare you.

Awesome tour! I love the decorations! Happy Haunting! Leena
Kerryanne @ Shabby Art Boutique
I’m suitably scared Amy.
Being an Aussie I’ve never experienced Halloween and this is the first year I’ve got interested in it…. and I think I may just be scarred for life. I’ve got goose-bumps! Love your dark and haunting dining room, but the rat kind of freaks me out…. it looks so real.

What fabulous décor and great commentary! I enjoyed your post so much. Love that mercury glass skull, and in spite of the fear I felt, your table looks very elegant. Love the “help us” spelled out with the balls. Your son is adorable, and he obviously takes after his mother. His H’ween décor is great too. I loved all of this! laurie

Thanks so much, Jamie. I think it was all those Stephen King novels I read as a teenager and my obsession with the original teen vampire movie, “The Lost Boys.”
Pam @ House of Hawthornes
That is one scary house. Love it! I think my favorite part was the dead roses on the dining room table. You did good!
Atta Girl Amy
Thanks, Pam. Those roses were leftover from the anniversary bouquet my husband gave me. Since I failed to toss them before they died, I thought I would “repurpose” them.
