To Make hot cocoa ice cream, You Will Need:
- Hot chocolate mix – Any store-bought packets will work, including speciality flavors. We’re big fans of Hershey’s, Ghiardelli or Swiss Miss Dark Chocolate — or you may want to try one of these highly rated mixes.
- Cream cheese – For best results and the creamiest ice cream, use full-fall cream cheese.
- Heavy whipping cream – It’s rich, but you’ll need this for creamy ice cream.
- Sugar – While the powdered beverage mix is sweetened, you will need a small amount of granulated sugar to sweeten the hot chocolate ice cream.
- Vanilla – Choose a high-quality vanilla for the best flavor.
- Marshmallows – Use mini marshmallows for this recipe. Try peppermint marshmallows or another flavor for a fun twist.
- Chocolate chips or candy melts – Melt these to drizzle over the top of the ice cream.
- Hand mixer – An electric hand mixer is all you need to whip up this recipe, although you can use a stand mixer, as well.
- Loaf pan – A metal loaf pan works best, but you can also use a freezer-safe glass pan.
- Electric ice cream maker (optional) — If you want the ice cream to set up quicker than overnight, use a countertop ice cream maker.
