    Fall Front Porch Decor

    Decorating

I’ve been all about nontraditional colors in my fall decorating this year.

I think this approach has been inspired by my love of heirloom green and blue pumpkins.

I’m delighted to be sharing with you my fall front porch decor today, as well as a few indoor spaces that are all decked out for fall in shades of aqua, dusky green and purple with lots of metallic highlights.

As much as I love the colors of autumn, it's refreshing to see fall front porch decor that embraces a completely different color palette. What a beautiful use of aqua, green, purple with neutrals.

I’m joining the Fall in Love with Your Home tour, organized by The Everyday Home.

At the end of this post, you’ll find links to more than two dozen fall decorating projects, recipes and crafts.

Our porch is one of my favorite spaces to decorate for the season. We are blessed with a large, covered southern porch.

But that also means I need a lot of stuff to decorate it. I’ve been collecting galvanized buckets at yard sales for a while now.

Thank goodness I had enough to use as planters for my purple mums and ornamental cabbages.

There’s one of those Cinderella pumpkins I love so much.

Front porches are made for sitting, and I love it when we can relax on ours.

A lovely fall wreath featuring painted, gilded pumpkins on a grapevine form. I love the nontraditional colors of aqua and lavender.

I like to call ours a three-wreath porch because I usually hang one on the door, one on the windows and one at the far end of the porch, above the buffet.

This fall, though, I thought this grapevine and pumpkins wreath was fabulous enough to carry the entire porch. (Or if I’m being completely honest, I ran out of time and decorating motivation.)

But I did hang a large metal platter above the buffet on the far end of the porch.

That counts as a wreath, right? (I’m so glad my mom suggested I hang it there. It’s the kind of unexpected touch I love, kinda like a buffet on a porch. Be sure to check out the post where I gave this beautiful buffet a much-needed makeover.)

In decorating our porch, you’ll notice that I use the same core pieces, like these oversized lanterns, from season to season. Then, I add seasonal touches to them. That makes the redecorating go a little quicker.

I used this same arrangement of dried blue hydrangeas in a moody blue fall tablescape last year. I’m all about repurposing. (It helps to have a prop closet in the attic, too, for staging seasonal decor.)

Remember when my son and I made our tin cup succulent dish garden? Who know they would work so well with my fall color scheme, especially when lined up on my vintage wooden toolbox. (It was that color when I bought it!)

I found the galvanized pumpkin at a local shop, and the very next day I found the galvanized vase at HomeGoods.

Clearly, they both had to come home with me for my fall and Halloween decorating. They’re the type of pieces I will be able to use for years to come. Next year, they’ll probably show up somewhere other than the porch.

I used some florals and metallic pumpkins, leftover from my wreath project, to create this fall arrangement for the porch.

I’m pretty delighted with how the porch turned out.

For more fall decorating inspiration that is not your typical orange, red and gold, check out my fall dining room decor.

Who says you have to go traditional with your season decor. I love decorating with metallics, so I combined them with blues and grays and even purple to create this fall tablescape.

Or see how I added some unexpected touches of fall in the living room, while staying true to the room’s coral and blue color palette.

What a gorgeous space! I love the vibrant colors, the mix of vintage and modern elements and the use of different patterns, textures and natural elements. Lots of great living room decorating ideas.

Now, it’s time for some more inspiration from the “Fall In Love With Your Home” bloggers.

Amy, your fall porch is just fabulous! The unexpected buffet is certainly a star feature, and the metal platter is just perfect in that spot. But what really caught my eye was the succulent garden in the tin cups!!! I just love to see your decorating tricks!

Amy, you have a dream porch!! It’s gorgeous. There are so many things I like about it it’s impossible to name them all. I’ll use one word – galvanized! 😉 And I have that same metal tray – it’s great!
      Enjoy your fabulous fall porch!

Amy – your porch is ALWAYS a source of inspiration for me and I imagine your neighbors cannot wait to see what you come up with next. I have to say, the buffet is one of my fave projects you have done for your porch. It is unexpected and that is what I love about it. I love your color palette and who knew it would have been as easy to stay within your color palette. Or you made it looks easy anyways. 🙂 Thanks for sharing in the “Fall in Love With Your Home” Tour. xxoo, Barb
