One of my favorite projects in my craft room and home office makeover is the oversized bulletin board hanging above my desk.
I picked up the fabulous gold frame at a local consignment store. I promptly cast aside the ugly painting that was inside the frame, but I saved the canvas for another project, another day.
I picked up a 24X36 corkboard from the craft store and covered it in fabric using my PowerShot stapler. (The fabric is Braemore’s Secret Gate Blossom, BTW.)
Initially, I planned to use the bulletin board as a mood board, but then I remembered I am short and my desk is deep.
So, the chance of me being able to reach across my desk and pin anything on it are pretty much impossible.
But I had to pretty my bulletin board up some way.
So, I headed over to The Graphics Fairy, my favorite source for vintage botanicals, antique images and free printables.
I found a selection of pretty leaves and flowers and printed them from my home computer. I made sure to print the floral images at high quality and to print them all the same size.
Then, I used decorative brass brads to hang them on my bulletin board.
It reminds me of something from the Ballard Designs catalog, but for a fraction of the price.

I used the following images from The Graphics Fairy to create my cheap wall art:
- Rose Botanical
- Almond Flower Print
- Printable Botanical Rose
- Botanical Leaf
- Vintage Botanical Leaf
- Gorgeous Botanical Leaf
You can see some other vintage botanicals I considered on my Graphics Fairy Pinterest Board where I pin my favorite images from Karen’s site.
I love decorating with vintage botanicals; there’s something so classic and timeless about them.
I have a series of large-scale botanicals hanging on a large wall in my living room. (If you’re feeling festive and have some time, please take my Christmas home tour; it’s my favorite season for decorating.)
The artwork above the sofa in the living room were too big for me to print on my own, but I still managed to create the entire grouping for about $200, including the cost of the frames!

I LOVE this bulletin board, Amy!! This is a great idea, and you did a terrific job with it. I’m a big fan of botanicals, too. I found a large group of vintage botanicals on e-Bay a few years ago. They were bookplates, or illustrations, from an old book and had been professionally removed from the book. The woman was selling them individually at REALLY good prices, so I purchased six. I hung two in our newly renovated kitchen but still have to hang the other four. I’m heading off to pin this bulletin board to my Pinterest account — thanks for sharing! 😀
Have a great day.

What a lovely idea. I have a frame very similar to that sitting in my closet just looking for a purpose. I love the botanicals and print you chose together. Just perfect for your desk space.
