These vintage black, red and green Christmas front porch decorations are so pretty, Santa and Mrs. Claus had to check them out! Tour this gorgeous Christmas porch and 17 other festive porches decked out for the holiday.
Last week, when I was photographing my Christmas front porch decorations, I made a little wish. And what happened next is straight out of a Hallmark movie.
Yes, dear reader, there is a Santa Claus. Christmas magic is real! It’s my very on Miracle on Cedar Chase!
Santa and Mrs. Claus heard about my annual porch tour, and they stopped by to get some decorating ideas for the North Pole! And even though they’re big-deal celebrities, the Clauses are just the sweetest people ever. They’re so down to earth!
And I have to say, that whether you’re 4 or 45, it is so exciting when Santa comes to visit you. I guess I’m not on the naughty list after all!
I’m also excited to have you visiting for my annual Christmas Porch Tour, featuring 18 talented home decor bloggers. If you’re looking for inspiration to decorate your front porch, sun porch, patio or other outdoor spaces for Christmas, make sure you visit everyone. Their porches are linked at the end of this post.
There are some truly beautiful spaces with lots of personality.
I could spend days telling you stories about Santa and Mrs. Claus. (He’s a big fan of the Andy Griffith show and Charlie Brown. And did you know that Mrs. Claus is the one who inspired me to write the most popular post on this blog? She also makes a batch of my icebox fruitcake for Santa every year.)
But you came here to see my Christmas front porch decorations, so we’ll get on with the tour.
I decided to use fresh greens on the porch this year, adding a pretty evergreen wreath and garland to the front door.
The arrangements in our urns are from Home Depot, and they’re a nice alternative to trees.
I went with a black, red and green color scheme this year, using lots of vintage items and seasonal plaids.
The black buffet I painted three years ago is the focal point of our porch, and I love decorating it for Christmas.
I used a mix of vintage finds and vintage-inspired items to create a vignette on the buffet top. The vintage red enamelware is always a favorite, and I use it a lot in my Christmas and patriotic decorating! I got the vintage red cash register at a warehouse sale, and I’ve been saving it all year to use on the porch!
The matching red enamel bowl sits in front of the buffet, a makeshift nest for a woodland owl.
This vintage fire alarm box is another favorite find that I’ll be able to use for Christmas and beyond. When I saw it at an antique show, I had to have it for the porch!
I also repeated chalkboard elements throughout the porch, inspired by the color of the buffet and the Dear Lillie chalkboard sign.
I reused a lot of the chalkboard elements from the my schoolhouse vintage themed porch a few years ago.
I
I’ve learned through the years that you don’t have to use traditional holiday decor to create a Christmas vibe.
Colors, patterns and things that are nostalgic, like ice skates, old toys or a plaid suitcase or Thermos, can help set a Christmas mood.
I may go a bit overboard on our Christmas front porch decorations, combining lots of patterns and textures, going overboard with the pillows and details.
I am not a minimalist!
Good thing I shop thrift stores and yard sales, where I find things like this oversized wreath that I dressed up with a homemade burlap and red velvet ribbon bow.
I like big bows, and I cannot lie!
I hope you’ve enjoyed touring our Christmas front porch as much as I enjoyed decorating it.
