Taco night? How about taco morning? I’ll show you how to set up a delicious breakfast taco bar with fruit and other yummy toppings. Includes recipes for several kid-friendly tacos.
Back to school will be different for most kids and parents this year. But one thing that won’t change: hungry kids need tasty food to fuel their bodies and brains for the school day. These mini, fruit breakfast tacos, made with Mission® Street Tacos Flour Tortillas and Nutella® Hazelnut Spread, are a deliciously easy weekday breakfast or after-school snack kids can make with a parent.
My young teen son is in that “always hungry” phase. And he’s too busy for complicated breakfasts or snacks that take too long to prepare. Grab-and-go foods are his mainstay, and it doesn’t get more grab-and-go than tacos!
Rather than serving traditional savory street tacos, I set up a dessert-style taco bar using the mini-sized Mission® Street Tacos Flour Tortilla, his favorite Nutella Hazelnut Spread, fresh fruit and toppings.
We always have full-sized tortillas in our fridge for taco night or quesadillas. But these small Mission Street Tacos are great to have around for kids’ breakfasts, lunch boxes or quick and convenient snacks. Pairing them with Nutella is a delicious way to mix things up and make things a little more special.
Setting Up a Snack Street Taco Bar
You can include any type of toppings you like on your breakfast taco bar. For ours, I used sliced strawberries, bananas and peaches, as well as granola, mini marshmallows and coconut.
Put the toppings in a small bowls or a divided serving dish. Arrange everything on a tray or snack board that can also double as the prep space.
If your kids are young, you can prep the tortillas ahead of time by spreading them with Nutella Hazelnut Spread. Then kids can just add the toppings.
The more toppings you provide, the more different types of tacos you can make.
How to Make Sweet Breakfast Tacos with Nutella
We came up with three different varieties featuring the ingredients in our taco toppings bar.
Peach Crisp Street Tacos are made by spreading Nutella on a mini tortilla. Top with ripe peach slices and granola and drizzle with honey.
Strawberry S’mores and Strawberry Banana S’mores tacos are other delicious options.
Arrange strawberry slices on a Mission® Street Tacos Flour Tortilla topped with Nutella. Add banana slices, if you like, then sprinkle on some shredded coconut and mini marshmallows.
These sweet street tacos were a hit with the entire family.
I’ve already added another pack to my next Target pick-up order. I’m excited to try the white corn and yellow corn varieties, as well. So many meal and snack possibilities! For more information on where to find Mission® Foods online and in-store, visit the Where to Buy page.
