On Halloween, I’m expecting to see lots of creepers, zombies, Endermen and Steve characters at my door.
I’m talking about Minecraft, of course. And I have the perfect accessory to go along with all those Minecraft Halloween costumes. A DIY Minecraft pumpkin treat bag that will take you less than 10 minutes to make!
Seriously!
And it’s big enough to hold lots of candy loot — unlike those plastic pumpkins that we had to carry around when we were kids.
Today’s post is in partnership with Gameband, the wearable tech that is a must-have for every Minecraft player. Twice a month, I share new Minecraft crafts, recipes, DIYs and party ideas, plus tips for how parents can balance video game time with other fun themed activities. You can find them all here.
After the tutorial, be sure to check out the sweet treat Gameband has for Target shoppers.
To make your own Minecraft treat bag, you will need a plain canvas tote bag. (I found mine in the craft aisle at Target.)
You’ll also need iron-on transfer paper, an iron and my free Minecraft Halloween Pumpkin Iron-On Transfer Printable Pattern.
Just click on the image above to download the free, non-watermarked printable.
The image is designed to be printed on a 8.5 X 11-inch sheet of iron-on transfer paper. Be sure to choose the mirror image setting on your printer to reverse the image.
Once you’ve printed out the image on iron-on transfer paper, trim off any excess white paper, so you’re only left with the Minecraft pumpkin image.
When working with iron-on transfers, you don’t want to iron on top of an ironing board. You want a hard surface, like a countertop, a piece of plywood or even a large kitchen cutting board.
Don’t iron directly on a painted or finished wooden surface or the heat from the iron might damage the finish.
I usually lay a pillowcase or tea towel down on my granite countertops.
Before transferring the image, make sure you iron the tote bag to get out any wrinkles. Use the cotton setting with no steam, and allow to cool completely before attempting the transfer.
Follow the package directions on your iron-on transfer paper because the process does vary depending on which brand you use.
Put the iron-on image face down on the tote bag and iron, applying steady heat and pressure, following the manufacturer’s directions.
Allow to cool completely and peel off the transfer paper to reveal your image.
When it comes to Halloween, I’m definitely a fan of treats over tricks!
Gameband is offering a pretty sweet one to its fans.
Take a selfie with Gameband in Target and you could win your very own Gameband.
Post your photo to social media using the hashtag #GamebandSelfie. A winner will be chosen randomly on Oct. 12. Be sure to follow Gameband on Facebook for all the latest news and promotions and giveaways.
Minecraft is such a social game. My son loves playing with his friends, and Gameband gives him the option to take his worlds with him. All he has to do is plug it into a computer’s USB slot, and he has access to all his builds and mods. Plus, Gameband backs up automatically to the cloud, so he’s never in danger of losing his hard work.
You can find Gameband at Target, GameStop, Best Buy, Microsoft Stores and online only at Walmart, NewEgg and Amazon.
If you end up making one of these pumpkin treat bags for your Minecrafters, I’d love to see them in costume. Email it to me or tag me on Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #attagirlsays.
