Hooray for red, white and blue! Take a virtual tour of our patriotic patio, which is decked out in vintage Americana decor for the Fourth of July.

I’m feeling all Yankee Doodle proud of our backyard entertaining area as we get ready to celebrate July 4th!

I pulled out all my flag pillows, dusted off my vintage Americana decor and even put my paintbrush to furniture to set the scene for a backyard July 4th bash.

I love decorating for the holidays, and July 4th is one of my favorites. It’s right up there with Halloween and Christmas.

In fact, I’ve been known to reuse items from my Christmas decor as Fourth of  July decorations. Like this red enamelware from the French Farmer’s Wife barn sale. It’s so much easier to justify a splurge when you know you’ll get lots of use out of an item.

When it comes to decorating for patriotic holidays, I love using the vintage Americana decor pieces that I’ve collected through the years from yard sales, antique stores and thrift stores.

I love this little tabletop tableau: tea-stained flags nestled in a pitcher from my favorite place to shop for antiques, alongside a red lantern and some jelly jar tealights. I made over the galvanized blue bucket with outdoor stain, and I also gave the stool a makeover with chalk paint.

It was a grungy, paint-stained, dusty mess when I picked it up from a yard sale this spring for $5.

Speaking of yard sale finds, this Pillsbury tin is a favorite. I’ve used it year after year in my July 4th decor.

I also picked up these tin stars at various yard sales. The red one was originally lavender! Nothing a little paint can’t fix.

This pretty blue bird feeder was also a yard sale find. It’s perfect for holding Cheerwine bottles!

My favorite bit of vintage Americana decor might be the red, white and blue flags. For years, these were used as decor for our city’s annual Fun Fourth celebration. But I bought them for $2 each last year at Reconsidered Goods, a local creative reuse center.

I love owning a little bit of Greensboro history.

My neighbor let me borrow her little red wagon, and now I’m on the hunt for my own. (I do have a child’s metal wheelbarrow that I think I’ll add to the patriotic mix!)

These ribbon balls were also part of the Fun Fourth stash I scooped up at Reconsidered Goods. They were 25 cents each! How could I resist?

I hope you have a festive, relaxing Fourth of July. I might just spend mine here, relaxing with a good book and a blueberry cocktail.
