We’re so far from being able to fire up the fireplace here in 90-degree North Carolina, but all that summertime sweating is not stopping me from sharing my fall mantel decor!
The pumpkins have taken their rightful seasonal place alongside the chinoiserie on our hearth. In fact, they’re sprouting all over our family room, giving things a fall feel inside even if outside isn’t cooperating.
I’m happy to be joining my blogging pals for our annual Fall Ideas Tour, hosted by Angie of Postcards from the Ridge. All this week, you’ll find fall decorating and crafting inspiration to cozy up your home for autumn.
Today is all about fireplaces, as six of us share our fall mantel decor. You definitely want to visit the other ladies on the tour today for some seasonal eye candy. You’ll find their posts, as well as all the other tour participants linked at the end of this post.
I feel like a bit of an imposter participating in a fall mantel decor tour when my actual mantel is pretty bare. Just a pair of pumpkins and mercury glass candle holders flanking either side of the TV cabinet.
In years past, I have loaded the mantel up with decor and covered those doors with various pretty things. The hearth has always gotten the maximalist treatment, too.
Consider last year’s look – lots of blue and white and aqua fall mantel decor.
Or the previous year’s jewel-tone inspired fall mantel decor.
But this year, I was craving something simpler and more real. Because those doors above the fireplace are rarely closed because we love Netflix and video games too much!
It doesn’t make sense to have fussy garlands sitting on the mantel because they obstruct the doors and more importantly, the signal from our remotes! And I’ve yet to find any truly secure way to hang a garland from the stone mantel. So this year, it is empty.
And I kept the hearth decorations restrained, as well. mixing my thrifted blue-and-white chinoiserie pieces with a few special pumpkins.
The blue, white, copper and verdigris color scheme was inspired by this gorgeous aged copper bucket I found at a local antique store. I loved that it had a blue-and-white handle, and decided to fill it with carpet balls for the season. I used a planter paired with a pumpkin to create a Cinderella stack on the hearth.
I have scattered a few more fall touches throughout the keeping room. But again, my goal was simplicity. I wasn’t looking to add to my already out-of-control stash of fall decor, and I don’t want to spend hours dusting this stuff or packing it back up in a few months when it’s time to decorate for Christmas.
A blanket scarf draped on a chair and a velvet pumpkin atop a stack of blue-and-white bowls feels like fall to me.
My favorite estate sale find sports its own arrangement of pumpkins and pottery.
Every year, I treat myself to a new velvet pumpkin.
It’s such a delight to unpack them every year and dream up new ways to display them. This year, I think I’ll add a little blue to the collection.
Because you can’t go wrong with blue and white for fall!

Blue is an every season all year color in my book, but what I really want to tell you is I need that stone on your fireplace. Really. I want a back splash in my kitchen with it.

Blue and white is always such a great classic combo and works great for a neutral fall color palette.

Hey there NC friend! Your blue and white fall decor is classically simple and very inviting. I’m still crushing on that buffet just brimming with all your lovely finds. And love that you ‘treat’ yourself to a new velvet pumpkin…they come in such rich, jewel-like colors that add so much to any area.
Thanks for opening your home and thanks for the inspiration.
So happy to join you on this fantastic blog tour!
Hugs, Lynn

Amy your home is beautiful! I love the blue for the fall!

I love that you’re keeping it real with a non-fussy mantel. Netflix and family time is more important that a big old fluffy garland 😁.
Lora Bloomquist
I love your antique store copper pot find, Amy! Wonderful texture. How fun that it has the blue and white patterned handle too, so it fits right in with the rest of your collection! I’ve always wondered how people use their T.V.’s when they have garlands in front of all the “eyes”. I love your practical approach! It all still looks happily seasonal!

I love blue and white, what beautiful pieces. And I am all about simple as well. Simple can be stunning, and yours is exactly that!

Amy, I love all of your blue and white finds! And I also love how you’ve incorporated them into your fall decor. I’m drawn to blue these days too and am envious of your amazing collection. I guess that’s one more thing for me to look for when I’m out treasure hunting! So happy to have you on tour again. Have a great week. ~ Angie

Blue and white are classics and look fabulous in any season. I love the way your mantle is dressed and your blue and white floral pumpkin is just darling. I could sit in that room and start it all day long!

Amy – we too are lovers of blue and white. Also, your mantel is perfectly fall to us. So smart and practical to decorate for how you truly live. Plus, in our households – TV is a big deal. Don’t ever block the remote signal LOL. Thanks for sharing!

Blue is my favorite color so of course I’m loving all your pretty collections paired with naturals and copper looks great. You make me want to to antiquing to get some for myself.
Paula@SweetPea
Blue and white looks so pretty for fall, Amy! I don’t blame you for keeping your mantel simple. You live in your home and if a fluffy garland gets in the way of seeing your tv or your remote working, then who needs it? You have such a beautiful collection of chinoiserie pieces and the collection looks wonderful paired with pumpkins for fall. I don’t own a velvet pumpkin and after seeing your pretty collection, I think I should change that. I always enjoy touring your home and today’s tour was much enjoyed.
