They might not feel very comfy on your feet, but there are lots of different ways you can use Dutch wooden shoes in your decorating. They make great planters, flower vases and organizers for all sorts of things, as you’ll see in this roundup of repurposed klompen wood clogs.
How many does it take to make a collection? Because I think I may have a new one: Klompen, or wooden clogs, which are the souvenir everyone buys when they visit the Netherlands.
Though it’s on my bucket list to see the tulips in bloom in Holland, I didn’t buy these pretty yellow Dutch wooden shoes on a trip. Instead, I found them at a yard sale, along with a matching pair of child-sized wooden clogs. Those are hanging out on my mug rack for the spring.
And as shoes have a way of doing around here, whether they’re for wearing or for displaying, they quickly multiplied.
Because how could I resist these chippy Belgian wooden clogs with the prettiest pink-and-green hand painted floral design when I spied them at a local antique market? I tucked a few tulips inside one shoe to add a touch of spring.
You probably didn’t even know you needed a pair of Dutch wooden shoes, but when you see all the different ways you can decorate with them, you’ll want to book a trip to the Netherlands. Or at least your local antique store.
And don’t worry if you can’t find any wooden shoes where you live. I have included affiliate links to lots of pretty vintage pairs at the end of this post.
