Add some vintage style to your tree with these handmade Christmas bingo card ornaments. You can also make a playable set, too, for family game night.
Even though I rarely win, I love playing bingo.
In fact, I might end up as one of those old ladies who has a lucky dauber and plays every week at the lodge. Seems like a great way to spend retirement!
A few years back, I bought a stack of old bingo cards and some wooden bingo numbers at an antique store. I finally found a project for them, just in time for the 31 Days of Handmade Christmas Ornaments Blog Hop hosted by Yesterday on Tuesday, Cupcakes and Crinoline and An Extraordinary Day. (Did you see the cute monogram ornament What Meegan Makes shared yesterday?)
I added some holiday greenery and bling to create these Christmas bingo card ornaments. I can’t wait to hang them on my tree and use them as package toppers for a few of my bingo-loving gal pals. We may even play a few games with them!
If you love bingo or vintage ephemera, this project is tailor-made for you.

Supplies:
- Bingo cards
- Garland ties or miniature garland
- Floral wire or tinsel wire
- Miniature bells
- Buttons and other holiday miniatures
- Bingo numbers
- Hot glue
- Ribbon
Instructions:
I lucked upon some vintage bingo cards and wooden bingo numbers in an antique store. If you can’t find vintage cards, look for new ones printed on cardboard. (Etsy is a good resource for old bingo cards.) Or print your own using one of these free bingo printables. Just print and decoupage onto cardboard.
You can purchase bingo numbers online or at the craft store in the scrapbooking aisle.
To add a festive touch to these Christmas bingo card ornaments, I added some greenery, tinsel and other decorations around the edge of each card.
I strung miniature bells and Christmas bulbs on tinsel wire, then wrapped those around mini garlands before hot gluing around the perimeter of each card.
Next, I “played” the Christmas bingo cards by adding buttons, holiday miniatures and wooden bingo numbers. I secured them with hot glue.
To finish the ornaments, I hot glued a ribbon hanger to the back of each one.
If you want to keep the cards playable, don’t glue the game pieces to them. Instead, display them in clear glass jars. Colorful buttons, miniatures and other holiday baubles are the perfect playing pieces.
I think it would be cute to decorate a bingo-themed tree filled with these cards. You could countdown to Christmas by hunting for the date each night. First one to find it yells, “Bingo!”
If you like making handmade Christmas ornaments, you’re in luck.
Every day this month, a blogging friend is sharing a different handmade ornament. By the end of October, you’ll have a tree-full of homemade decorations to treasure. You can see all the ornaments shared so far at the end of this post, plus you’ll find links to even more DIY Christmas decor.
I can’t wait to see what my vintage-loving friend, Paula from Sweet Pea shares tomorrow.

What a great idea! We have a fun family memory of playing bingo with friends in Michigan. Actually, when our boys were little, we lived in a tiny town in Michigan that had a bingo hall–something that we never see here in the South. Anyway, I’m thinking that one of these ornaments would make a great gift for those friends. Thank you for the idea!

I can’t even describe how much I love these! They are perfect in every way. When I was in my 20’s I used to play bingo weekly with my older sister and brother at a local fire hall. It was our strange sibling activity. Thanks so much for bringing back such a wonderful memory and one I haven’t thought of in quite a while.

One of my besties has a family tradition that goes back to her childhood and still continues today of playing Bingo on Christmas Eve for fun little gifts. I’ve got to gather the supplies so I can make these for her. She will love it.
