This homemade pink Himalayan salt scrub features a sensual blend of scents, combined with two different types of exfoliating salt. You’ll love the heady, calming blend of vetiver, ylang ylang and sweet orange essential oils, combined with a hint of vanilla.
There’s something so indulgent about homemade bath products. This particular pink Himalayan salt scrub is extra luxurious with its exotic perfumed scent and skin moisturizing and exfoliating properties.
It makes a great Valentine’s Day gift, along with my heart-shaped love potion bath bombs. Men and women alike will enjoy the salt scrub and its romantic, sensual scent.
I’m a big fan of ylang ylang and vetiver essential oils, especially in combination. One has a very feminine scent, and the other is more masculine — making the combo great for a romantic, sensual scrub like this one.
Ylang Ylang, which comes from a flowering tree native to the rainforest, has a sweet, sensual floral aroma. Vetiver, meanwhile, has a woodsy, almost smoky scent that is often used in perfumes.
To make this sensual pink Himalayan salt scrub recipe, you’ll combine an essential oil blend of vetiver, ylang ylang and sweet orange, with pink himalayan sea salt, Dead Sea salt and vanilla-infused jojoba oil.
The sweet orange oil adds bright energetic citrus notes to the scent. Vanilla is sometimes considered a natural aphrodisiac.
The vanilla-infused jojoba oil is also moisturizing to the skin and won’t turn rancid like many carrier oils. So the scrub should last a while in the shower or beside your tub, as long as you’re careful not to get water in it. If you can’t find vanilla-infused jojoba, you can substitute regular jojoba oil or another carrier oil of your choice.
This salt scrub recipe uses two different kinds of salt — pink Himalayan salt and Dead Sea salt. The finished salt scrub should be pale pink in color, though the actual shade will vary depending on your ingredients.
Pink Himalayan salt, which is mined from ancient beds in the Himalayan mountains, is thought to be the purest form of salt available. It is rich in minerals and is a good exfoliator.
Dead Sea Salt, which comes from Israel, contains high amounts of bromides, magnesium, potassium and chloride that are thought to have therapeutic uses.

Supplies
1/2 cup pink Himalayan salt
1/2 cup dead sea salt
2 ounces vanilla-infused jojoba oil
10 drops vetiver essential oil
7 drops ylang ylang essential oil
8 drops sweet orange essential oil
You can buy Himalayan and Dead Sea salt in many different formats — from extra fine to coarse. Coarser grained salts are potentially more irritating on the skin. You may want to use a mix of fine and medium or coarse salts to start.
How to Make Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub
Combine pink Himalayan salt and Dead Sea salt in a non-reactive bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine the vanilla-infused jojoba oil and the essential oils.
Pour the oil mixture over the salt blend and use a wooden spoon or popsicle stick to combine.
Spoon the pink Himalayan salt scrub into plastic jars or large plastic test tubes.
How to Use the Salt Scrub
Run a warm shower and allow your skin to get completely wet and softened. Turn off the shower and apply the salt scrub all over your body, avoiding your face. But do pay special care to dry spots like elbows, knees and feet.
Massage the scrub into your skin, using a circular motion. (You can ask your significant other to help you with this!)
Gently rinse off the salt scrub using warm water. Some of the oil should remain on your skin. Pat your skin dry with a towel.
Be careful getting out of the shower, as the oil in the salt scrub could make the floor slick.
You can also use this salt scrub when you’re giving yourself a manicure or a pedicure. Just soak your hands and feet first. Massage the salt scrub into your skin and let it rest for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water.
How Often Can I use this Salt Scrub
A salt scrub is an exfoliator and should not be used daily or on sensitive.
I recommend using this pink Himalayan salt scrub to exfoliate once a week. If your skin is dry, you may use it up to three times a week.
Be careful not to shave immediately before or after using a salt scrub, as it can be irritating to the skin.
Can I use different essential oils to make this Himalayan Salt Scrub Recipe?
If you have a favorite essential oil or fragrance combination, you can definitely adapt this recipe to fit your preference. Just be sure to use the same total number of drops of essential oil to avoid any skin sensitivity issues. You can also use a different carrier oil if you have trouble finding vanilla jojoba oil or prefer another one.
