Homemade Wonton Dipping Sauce

Ready in less than 5 minutes, this homemade dipping sauce is made with soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil and chili garlic sauce. Use it on wontons, dumplings, potstickers, egg rolls, spring rolls and more.

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sambal oelek or chili garlic paste
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 scallion sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Combine soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic paste, honey, sliced scallions and sesame seeds in a bowl.
  • Whisk together until blended.
  • Serve with wontons, dumplings, potstickers or other appetizers.

Notes

Variations & Substitutions

  • Add ⅛ teaspoon each onion powder and garlic powder.
  • Add a clove of fresh minced or crushed garlic, or use it in place of the green onions.
  • Add minced ginger, to taste.
  • Swirl in some homemade Chinese hot mustard in place of the sambal oelek or chili garlic paste.
  • For a nuttier flavor, toast the sesame seeds in a nonstick pan until lightly browned and fragrant.

Storage

This sauce can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for a week. For best results, add the green onions and sesame seeds right before serving.
