These crispy homemade Chinese-style cream cheese wontons have a creamy sweet filling that practically melts in your mouth.

You only need 5 ingredients to make the homemade version of this popular Chinese restaurant appetizer.

Ingredients cream cheese  green onions wonton wrappers hot pepper jelly oil for frying

Cook's Tip You can buy pepper jelly, but homemade is better!  Try my homemade hot pepper jelly recipe.

Make the filling

Combine cream cheese, green onions and pepper jelly in a bowl.  Mix until creamy.

Fold the wontons

Add a teaspoon of filling to the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten edges, fold into a triangle and seal.

Fry wontons

Heat oil to 350° F and fry cream cheese wontons, in batches, until golden brown.

Serve the cream cheese wontons hot with soy dipping sauce or homemade sweet and sour sauce.
