Sweet & Spicy Candied Bacon 

Candied Bacon, Millionaire Bacon, Billionaire Bacon. No matter what you call it, we'll show you how to make this delicious breakfast and brunch favorite.

Bake a batch in the oven in about 30 minutes. Or cook some candied bacon in an air fryer in only 10 minutes! 

Ingredients   1 pound thick-cut bacon ¾ cup brown sugar cracked black pepper Optional Ingredients ½ cup maple syrup  ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper ½ tsp. red pepper flakes 

Preheat oven to 350℉. Place bacon slices on a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Sprinkle brown sugar over the bacon. For sweeter candied bacon, dip in maple syrup before adding the brown sugar.

Season liberally with cracked black pepper. If preferred, you can also sprinkle the bacon with cayenne or red pepper flakes.

Bake for 20 to 30 minutes until sugar is caramelized and bacon is done, flipping during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Bacon should be chewy-crisp but not charred.

Allow the bacon to cool on the pan. It will develop a candied coating as it cools and the sugar hardens.

to Make in an Air Fryer

Cut bacon slices in half so they will more easily fit in the air fryer basket. Line basket and air fry for 10 minutes at 350℉.

Enjoy candied bacon on its own or serve on top of a salad or sandwich.

It's delicious on a gourmet BLT sandwich with a vine-ripened tomato and homemade garlic-basil aioli on sourdough bread.
