The classic New Orleans Hurricane cocktail gets a tropical twist with the addition of Hawaiian POG juice, a blend of passion fruit, orange and guava juice. Make these rum drinks by the glass or by the pitcher!
Put the top on the shaker and shake until blended and well chilled. Strain into a hurricane glass filled with crushed ice.

To Make a Pitcher of Hurricane Cocktails
To make eight 10-ounce drinks, combine the following ingredients in a 2.5 quart or larger pitcher:
2 cups (16 ounces) light rum
2 cups (16 ounces) dark rum
1 cup (8 ounces) passion fruit puree
3 cups (24 ounces) POG juice
½ cup (4 ounces) lime juice
½ cup (4 ounces) grenadine
½ cup (4 ounces) simple syrup (optional)
Stir well and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve over crushed ice in hurricane glasses and garnish with orange and pineapple slices and maraschino cherries.
Variations & Substitutions
If you can't find passion fruit puree, you can use passion fruit syrup, passion fruit juice or more POG juice.
For a sweeter cocktail, add ½ ounce simple syrup (or more, to taste), more grenadine or even a bit of maraschino cherry juice.
Substitute golden rum for dark rum.
Substitute lemon juice or pineapple juice for lime juice.
