RED VELVET  HOT COCOA BOMBS

If you love red velvet cake, you’ll love these homemade hot chocolate bombs that are inspired by the classic dessert recipe.

Valentine's Day Treat! Place the candy bomb in a mug. Add hot milk and watch the candy bomb explode, releasing hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.

Ingredients & Supplies Red candy melts Hot chocolate mix  Mini marshmallows  Chocolate candy melts  Gold sugar pearls  Metal or silicone sphere molds

Cook's Tip Since red velvet cake is known for its rich cocoa flavor, I recommend a premium dark chocolate hot cocoa mix. Sometimes, you can find red velvet cocoa packets at World Market and other stores around the holidays.

Heart

Melt candy melts and stir until smooth. Place a tablespoon of melted candy into each mold, using your spoon to press the chocolate up the sides.

Place filled molds in  freezer to set.  Remove shells from molds. Fill half of the shells with powdered hot cocoa mix and mini marshmallows.

Press one of the empty candy shells face down onto a warm plate to gently melt the rim of the chocolate cup.  Press two halves together and seal with more candy melts.

Decorate with melted chocolate, chocolate chips and sugar pearls.

The fun part of serving hot chocolate bombs is watching them explode in your mug. As you add hot milk, the shell melts, releasing the hot chocolate and marshmallows.
