Looking for ways to showcase vintage Christmas ornaments? Colorful Shiny Brite ornaments really shine when hung on a pink Christmas tree or a silver tinsel tree.
I couldn’t resist giving you a look at my new flocked pink Christmas tree when I shared my holiday home tour last week. But a tree this fabulous deserves its own post!
I’m sharing more details of my vintage Shiny Brite ornament collection and the pink Christmas tree and silver tinsel tree where I hang them as part of the Festival of Trees blog hop. Hosted by my friend, Susie of The Chelsea Project, this tour features 12 beautifully decorated trees. (Actually, 13 if you count my two!)
I’m not quite sure how long ago I began collecting vintage Shiny Brite ornaments. Maybe 15 years ago or so years ago when I received some of my grandma’s vintage glass ornaments.
Over the years, I have added more and more glass ornaments, picking them up throughout the year at yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores antique shops.
I am partial to pinks, greens, aquas and gold. But if the price is right, I don’t pass up a Shiny Brite — no matter the vintage or the color.
This year, I added a lot more Shiny Brites to my collection, thanks to a Facebook Marketplace find. So I had to get a new flocked pink Christmas tree to showcase them.
You can see it as soon as you come into our foyer. It sits on a painted buffet alongside my silver tinsel tree, where I had previously displayed my ornament collection.
But its branches are getting pretty full with the pink and green glass beauties.
I love how there are so many different styles, colors and types of Shiny Brite ornaments, including simple balls, tear drops, indents, lanterns, UFOs, tops, bells, tear drops, icicles and pine cones. Some have been silvered inside, while others are decorated with sparkling mica.

I love the stories that these ornaments tell and the connection to history and our personal pasts.
Most of my vintage ornaments are Shiny Brites. But I do have some from other makers, as well as a few reproductions that reflect the same vintage vibe.
My tinsel tree and now the pink Christmas tree are my favorites to decorate. I love unwrapping the delicate, tissue-wrapped glass ornaments and discovering my collection anew each year.

Jennifer from the Brocante Home has a great series of Instagram story highlights where she talks about the different eras of Shiny Brite ornaments and how to distinguish them from other vintage glass and European Christmas ornaments. I learned so much watching her stories this year.

OK…I officially have Shiny Brite envy. Your trees are STUNNING!!! And I especially love how the 2 completely different trees play so well together on that buffet. I am slowly adding to my grandparent’s ornaments, but I clearly have a way to go!
Thanks for the inspiration my friend.
Merry Christmas.
Hugs,
Lynn

Oh my word, these trees are so awesome! I’ve never seen such a big collection of Shiny Brite ornaments before – that is so cool. I know they are rare and difficult at times to find so the fact you’ve added to your collection all these years is really special. I love how they sparkle on both trees. They definitely add a cheerful and festive feel to your home. It’s all just gorgeous! Hugs, CoCo

I adore that pop of pink with the flair of your vintage ornaments. I have my mothers original vintage glass ornaments which are such a treasure to me, so I know how special this tree must be for you.
