I hear a real witch lives here.
She lures you in with pretty pumpkins…
and promises of sweets and treats…
but before you know it…
your head’s on a stake.
Alas, poor Yorick, indeed!
Welcome, friends, to my Halloween front porch.
No need to be afraid. We’re all friends here, so let’s continue with the tour.
That witch is quite the crafty one. She decorates pumpkins…
and spooky little trees when she’s not busy scaring children!
Have you met the ravens, Edgar and Allan? Or their little friend Igor the rat?
They watch over the coven place for the witch when she’s not home…
So do these creatures.
The bats are friendly, too.
But I would beware if you sit too long under their roost.
I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure out why!
The witch would be happy to give you a free spin on her broom…
But she doesn’t appear to be home at the moment. Lucky you!
Maybe you should come back after dark. She always has a potion brewing…
Are you brave enough to take a draught?
I won’t tell you what happened to the last person to refuse the witch’s hospitality.
A terrible fate indeed.
But not as bad as the one that befell the last visitor to drink the witch’s brew!
MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
OK, enough with the theatrics! Let me show you a few more photos of our outdoor Halloween decorations that don’t fit neatly into the creepy narrative.
Here’s my favorite sit-a-spell chair, which is either southern or sinister, depending on the season. In the background, you can see the buffet table from this weekend’s kid-friendly Halloween party.
We had quite the spread and a ton of fun snacking and crafting with friends on a rainy autumn afternoon. Check out all the party details HERE, including the recipe for these amazingly funny cupcakes.
As you can probably tell from my story and all the outdoor Halloween decorations, I’m quite the collector of all things black and white and orange and pumpkin.
I also love using my creativity to make Halloween decorations.
The spooky wreath on my front door is new this year.
The ‘Til Death Do Us Part Wreath is one of my favorite Halloween projects from years past.
The colorful black-and-orange banners came from my friend Cori’s etsy shop, Let’s Eat Grandpa. (It’s a grammar joke — but it kinda fits with the Halloween theme, too!)
For more Halloween decorating inspiration, check out last year’s tour of my Halloween Hotel of Horror
and my Southern Gothic inspired Halloween decor.
The love of Halloween must be hereditary, because Jackson also loves the frightful holiday. We decorated his playhouse of horror last year.
Finally, you may want to check out my Halloween porch in years past to see how I use the same basic decorations in different ways and how I add to the collection every year.
Happy Halloween!
April

Wow, you have gone beyond Fall and Halloween Decorating, Yes Spooky, but a lot of nice things too! I miss having the kids at home, they can really get you into Halloween. Great Job.
