These Oscar party ideas will help you recreate the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s biggest night in your home.
I have always dreamed of being a part of Hollywood’s biggest night…
Flash bulbs popping, I make my way down the Red Carpet in my vintage Valentino dress, Louboutin stilettos and borrowed Harry Winston jewels, arm in arm with Hugh Jackman.
Hey, a gal can dream…
Since the Academy hasn’t sent me a ticket for the Oscars, I threw my own glamorous and glitzy Hollywood gala.

My goal: recreate the atmosphere and the menu of the famed Governors Ball, the official Oscars after-party catered by chef Wolfgang Puck, using food, wine, champagne and decor from World Market.
Be sure to check the end of this post for recipe links and free printables. You can also check out my ultimate Oscars playlist, a great soundtrack for your upcoming Oscars party.

Since we are talking movies, here’s a little trailer of my Oscar party, from shopping to cooking to decorating to celebrating with friends.
What a party it was!
So much yummy food…
A cocktail and champagne bar…
…featuring Blood Orange Mimosas, Gloria Ferrer sparkling wine, Verdi Raspberry Sparketini in sugar-rimmed champagne flutes, Cosmopolitans in stemless martini glasses, as well as a selection of wine from World Market.
(That’s my mama enjoying a raspberry champagne cocktail!)
It was so fun to see everyone decked out in jewels and sequins and sparkles.
My friend, Alex, wore this gorgeous amethyst necklace that was a gift to her mother from a real Oscar winner! (Alex’s mom was a ballerina and her best friend was married to José Ferrer, who won the best actor award in 1951 for his performance as Cyrano de Bergerac. Pretty cool, huh? Just by six degrees of separation, I think I can say I’ve met an Oscar winner, right?)
We had lots of great gourmet food to go along with our bubbly.
As is tradition at the Governors Ball, I focused on appetizer-sized portions of gourmet comfort food. Most everything, except the garnishes and a few fresh ingredients, came from World Market. The store also has a great assortment of serving pieces and entertaining essentials that made setting my table easy.
Pecorino Cheese Gnocchi with vodka sauce served in tasting spoons.
Bacon Onion Cheddar Muffins in mini square tasting dishes.
Cold sesame noodles served in mini takeout containers with wooden chopsticks.
Vegetable Gyoza with Sriracha Mayo.
Assorted popcorn flavors…
White Cheddar, Chicago Mix and Movie Theater.
Fresh rice paper spring rolls with peanut satay sauce.
For dessert, ChocoMaker Dessert Cups and Mousse garnished with raspberries, mint and Belgian Chocolate Thins.
Creamy Nutella Cream Cheese Dip, served in tuxedo cups with hazelnut rolled wafers.
Star-studded champagne red velvet cupcakes with champagne frosting.
You can get the recipe here.
What’s an Oscars party without an assortment of movie candy? Hot Tamales, Red Vines licorice, Junior Mints and chocolate movie tickets.
World Market’s gold fluted chargers and square rimmed chargers added glitz to my table and held all the food.
For my centerpiece, I used a gorgeous handmade Bloomatini bouquet in a stainless steel cocktail shaker.
The paper leaves were personalized with fun messages we’re sure to hear during the Oscars telecast in a few weeks.
I decorated my buffet with a gold mirrored tabletop tray, plus some leftover Christmas garland, a DIY printable sign and Oscar statuette confetti I made with my Silhouette cutting machine.
Just like at the real Academy Awards, my guests received goodie bags filled with treats.
I decorated the favor bags with gold vinyl I cut with my Silhouette and added a personalized Bloomatini flower to each one.
Everyone got a gold-dusted chocolate Oscar.
My friends really got a kick out of imagining what it would be like to win an Oscar of their very own!
Michelle won for her portrayal of a multitasking mom.
This party was so much fun, I may have to do it again on Oscar night!
Now, let’s get to those Oscar party how-tos I promised you!

Lisa @ Fun Money Finds
I love all your ideas! Before I had kids, my friend and I used to throw Oscar Parties too (although nowhere near as fabulous as yours). My brother-in-law was actually being mentioned for an editing nomination a few years back and I was probably more bummed than anyone in the family that he didn’t get it. It would have been so cool to actually know somebody that was a part of it!!! Anyway, you’ve given me some great ideas for when I decide to throw another one of these parties!!!

This looks FABULOUS! I wish I could come party with you! 🙂

Where did you buy the black and gold Oscar gift/swag bags? Where can I get the flowers you put in each one?
Atta Girl Amy
Hi Krissy:
I made the swag bags using black paper bags and gold vinyl Oscar statues I cut using my Silhouette machine. I wrote a post with all the details here: http://www.attagirlsays.com/2015/02/16/oscars-party-favors/. It includes the free cut files, if you have a Silhouette.
And the flowers are from http://www.bloomatini.com. They can customize them to your liking, with different colored flowers, leaves and messages on the leaves. I hope this helps!
Lauren
