Pamper your guests, your family and yourself with these useful, fun and festive finds that will help you get your home holiday-ready.
If you’re in the throes of decorating for Christmas and planning for holiday entertaining, then you know there’s a lot that goes into getting a home ready for guests.
In addition to the decorating, there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating a welcoming holiday home. Today, in partnership with Babbleboxx, I’m sharing seven products that will help you spoil your guests, your family and yourself this holiday season.
These items will help you clean, organize, decorate and refresh your home, as well as set a festive mood. And did I mention that you’ll find some great deals on these items on Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Lucky you!
Clean & Organize
With holiday guests arriving for overnight stays and parties, it’s important to keep your house clean and organized during the holidays.
Meet my new boyfriend/live-in housekeeper — the ECOVACS DEEBOT 900 robotic vacuum cleaner. This gadget is a life changer!
DEEBOT is the vacuum for busy (or tired!) people. Earlier this week, after a busy day of Christmas decorating, I plopped my glitter-covered self down on the couch, put my feet on the coffee table and watched “Riverdale,” while DEEBOT vacuumed the house. Glitter, dirt, crumbs under the kitchen table, dropped Christmas tree needles, cat hair — gone — and I didn’t even work up a sweat.
I love that I can control my DEEBOT with my phone using the ECOVACS app or through a smart home device, like Amazon Alexa or Google Home. And I can have it vacuum the entire house or just focus on certain areas. It really does feel like I have a housekeeper!
During the week of Cyber Monday, the ECOVACS DEEBOT 900 will be $100 off at participating retailers. Click HERE to see where to purchase.
One thing I always try to do before the holidays is get my kitchen cabinets in order.
I usually go through my dishes, glassware and silverware and clear out the clutter, donating anything that I don’t love anymore, as well as items that are chipped, cracked or part of an incomplete set. While you’re decluttering, it’s a great idea to wipe down shelves, drawers and cabinets and add drawer and shelf liner.
At just $5-$6 per roll, Smooth Top ® Easy Liner ® Shelf Liner is a great choice. The non-adhesive liner comes in 12-inch and 20-inch widths in a variety of colors, and it can easily be trimmed to size to fit your drawers and cabinets. I love the no-slip grip and that it’s thick and cushioned, to protect delicate glassware.
You can also use the shelf liner under the sink, in guest bathrooms, medicine cabinets, linen closets and in furniture. Check out all the uses and get organizing tips here.
Decorate
I love adding little festive touches throughout our home at the holidays.
And I’m not sure you can ever have enough Christmas trees! I love putting trees — both large and small — throughout the house.
This realistic 25-inch Iced Mini Pine Artificial Christmas Tree in Galvanized Bucket by Northlight from Christmas Central was the perfect addition to our master bedroom hearth. You could also use the mini green pine on a porch, in a guest bedroom, bathroom or to decorate a tabletop or dresser. (I love this designer-look tree so much that I want an entire forest of them!)
Christmas Central is a great place to find seasonal and everyday home decor, including Christmas trees and ornaments.
Refresh with Cozy Touches
As you dress the beds with in your home with heavy winter comforters and warm blankets, why not swap out those everyday sheets for luxe linens?
After 15 years, we’re getting a new mattress this weekend and I can’t wait to make the bed with our new Luxe Hardcore Sheet Bundle from Brooklinen.
The set comes with buttery soft 480-thread count Brooklinen sheets, two extra pillowcases and a duvet cover in your choice of mix-and-match colors. I love that option.
I also love being able to shop for sheets online and have them delivered to my door, at a fraction of the price of other luxury brands. And through Dec. 31, 2018, you can save an extra $20 off a $50 purchase from Brooklinen when you use the code attagirl20 at checkout.
Our tween son, who likes to hang out in our bed to read and listen to music, said the Brooklinen sheets feel like hotel sheets. “That’s a good thing!” he told me.
Looks like I might have to get some Brooklinen sheets for his bed, too. And wouldn’t they be a great addition to a guest bedroom?
Set a Festive Mood
As you’re prepping your home for guests this holiday season, don’t forget about ambience.
One of the simplest and most effective ways to do this is with scent.
When I want to get into the holiday spirit, I usually throw on some holiday tunes and light a seasonal candle, like this Chestnut & Acorn Small Jar Candle from Chesapeake Bay Candle.
This one smells so yummy. It has a nutty aroma, with notes of vanilla and cinnamon leaf essential oil. And I just love the look of the candle. It complements my holiday decor, rather than competing with it.
Music and lighting can also help you set the holiday mood.
We’ve slowly been switching out the lighting in our home to smart light bulbs. So I was really excited to try out the Element Color Plus 2pk kit & Element Color Plus from Sengled. I added two of the bulbs to our bedside lamps, and I love being able to adjust the light temperature and color for tasks like reading or to set the mood. (Yes, there’s a romance setting!)
Through the customizable Sengled Home app, you can control lights, set schedules, and check energy savings with just a tap of your fingers. But my favorite feature is that the Element line is compatible with Amazon Echo, Google Home, SmartThings, and other devices, so I can control the lights with my voice.
See that lamp in our dining room?
I replaced the old bulb with the Sengled Solo Color Plus, a color LED bulb that has a built-in wireless speaker that you can connect to a smartphone or computer using Bluetooth. It can even act as a speaker for your Echo Dot. You can use the Sengled Pulse app to change the color of the light and set it to the rhythm of the music. Check out my Instagram stories for a cool demo.
I love having the light/speaker combo in the dining room. When we throw holiday parties, we set up the bar and buffett in the dining room. It will be nice to have music in the room.
You’ll find some great Amazon deals on Sengled bulbs and starter packs starting Black Friday. When you buy an Echo device, you can get the Element Classic 2-pack for $10. Other Sengled Element products will be 25 percent to 30 percent off on Amazon. On Cyber Monday, selection Element products will be 35 percent off. Shop the entire selection HERE.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these holiday prepping tips, and that you’ll treat yourself to one (or all!) of these great products. They’re definitely making my life merrier this holiday season.
