Welcome spring with handmade gift tags that can be used for packages or as part of your seasonal decor.
Chirp, chirp! The birds and buds are telling me that spring is almost here.
In anticipation of the Spring season, I’m revisiting an easy craft from a few years ago.
Using miniature bird’s nests, grapevine wreaths, flowers, washi tape and ephemera, you can transform plain manilla tags into pretty package toppers or seasonal decor.
While I have included a video tutorial below, what I really like about this project is that it allows you to use your creativity and little odds and ends you have in your craft room to create unique handmade gift tags.
When creating these designs, I pulled out lots of different rolls of washi tape, paper embellishments, stickers and miniature elements. Then, I just started playing around, getting lost in the process of creating. It’s a lot like collage making.

I was inspired by some tags I purchased from a French Laundry Home warehouse sale.

I loved the pretty designs and the uplifting words on the tags. What great reminders!
I originally created this tutorial as part of the Crafty Hangouts video series, in partnership with Consumer Crafts and other bloggers. Our projects featured quick crafts you can make in 10 minutes or less.

You can make them with or without the nests. I do think they look best when you add a touch of natural material, such as raffia, a grapevine wreath or a nest.
Check out the video below for a quick tutorial on how to make these.
These handmade gift tags will be great for packages, especially for spring weddings.
I also like to incorporate them into my season decor, hanging them from bottles and on my Easter tree.
They’d also make great place cards; just replace the spring words with your guests’ names.
