I am a collector. Wander through my home, and you’ll see evidence of my magpie tendencies.
Vintage pottery. Old silver serving pieces. Equestrian awards. Mercury glass. Plaster mouldings. Velvet pumpkins.
I’m showcasing some of my favorite collections, many which you haven’t seen before, as part of my fall home tour.
I’m thrilled to be part of the annual Welcome Fall Home Tour, coordinated by my friend, Kristi of Chatfield Court. All this week, your favorite home decor bloggers are opening their homes and sharing their best DIY fall decor ideas.
If you’re a first-time visitor who clicked over from Exquisitely Unremarkable or one of the other participating blogs, welcome!
We’ll start here in the foyer, a bright and happy space designed to make a good first impression!
Painted furniture in my favorite shade of aqua, pumpkins and mercury glass greet you as you walk in the door.
I’ve been holding onto these plaster mouldings for about two years, waiting for right way to incorporate them in my decor.
Turns out they look pretty amazing alongside white pumpkins and vintage silver from the thrift store.
In a bit of serendipity, our landscaper was trimming the camellia bushes in our front yard on the same day I was setting out these decorations. I snagged some of the clippings and tucked them into this display of velvet pumpkins. Easiest DIY fall decor ever!
I try to add a new velvet pumpkin to my collection every year. This harlequin patterned one is a favorite.
From the foyer, we’ll make our way into the dining room.
I know the trend is to transform your formal dining room into something more “useful.”
And it’s true that sometimes this table is covered with Legos or Star Wars action figures. but I love dressing it up, too. with fancy china and a silver service. (I don’t even mind that it bears someone else’s monogram; I could be convinced to change my name for a good thrift store bargain!)
As far as tablescapes go, this one counts as “simple,” in my book.
Just a few white pumpkins scattered around a candle centerpiece, with a few touches of plaster, silver, green and aqua.
I really did keep things simple in our living room.
A few cozy blankets and accessories offer a nod to fall.
Nothing says autumn like a tray full of pumpkins!
Or a vase filled with feathers!
For a while now — long before it was trendy — I’ve been loving gold and vintage brass.
I always find the best pieces at our local Salvation Army store.
I found this cachepot there, as well as the tall brass candlestick. (Reminds me of the game Clue: I accuse Miss Peacock in the living room with the candlestick!)
To add a little fall greenery to the living room, I planted some cabbage in the cachepot. I’ll move it to the garden soon.
Since I didn’t play sports, I only ever won one trophy as a kid, for winning a county short story writing contest in middle school. So I’ve started a collection of trophies and ribbons. This unmarked dog show trophy is a new addition. You’ll see more of my collection in our family room.
This painted and gilded pumpkin is one of my favorite fall crafts. See how to make your own here here.
The last stop on my fall tour is our keeping room, or family room. This space has gotten a brand new look in recent months — new sofa, new rug, new curtains, furniture makeovers and new color scheme — and this is the first time I’m showcasing any of it.
I’m loving the blue and gray and beige vibe in here, as well as the mix of patterns.
Ikat, damask, paisley, animal print, plaid — I love them all!
Last month, I showcased our jewel-toned mantel decor as part of another blogger tour.

Our property adjoins a horse farm. In the fall, one of the old horses will wander up to our fence waiting for us to feed him. I love to watch him out the keeping room window.
So, it seemed a fitting to add some equestrian style elements to the room, like the weathervane, ribbons and trophies.
I am quite the horse woman — in my mind. (But I do love a good mint julep or Trifecta pie at a Kentucky Derby party!)
While many of the furnishings in this room are new, or newly updated, most of the accessories are vintage, collected over time from thrift stores, yard sales or my mom’s house.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of our home decorated for fall. Be sure to head over to My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia, the next stop on the Welcome Fall Home Tour. And don’t miss the other tours either for lots of DIY fall decor ideas.

Hi Amy, this is my first visit and I just subscribed. I love your style, so casually elegant. It mirrors my style more than some others I have seen and loved on this Fall tour. I look forward to seeing more of your posts.
Stacy Risenmay
So many fun details! I had to scroll really slowly so I wouldn’t miss a thing. So pretty!
Pam
I love those trophies! Especially the dog one, but they’re all pretty unique. I think my favorite photo is the one with the botanicals on the wall. Such a pretty seating area.
Cristina
I need to go thrift shopping with you, so many awesome finds! Love the fancy china, the weathervane and those pretty horse trophies!
Jennifer @ Town and Country Living
Love the equestrian touches, Amy! And that little harlequin pumpkin is too adorable!
Suzy Handgraaf
You know that I have always loved your home, my friend, but you’ve outdone yourself this fall! Love, love, love the touches of aqua! You might want to keep those aqua mercury glass candlesticks in your foyer under lock and key. You know – just in case someone wants to “borrow” them on a permanent basis. 😀
laura janning
okay, i love the tour but i especially am impressed with all of your awards! 🙂
Atta Girl Amy
Ha! I am such an over-achiever. Next time, I’ll show you my Oscar, Emmy and Tony. That darn Grammy, though, is keeping me from getting an EGOT!
Kristi
So beautiful Amy! Love your entryway sideboard and all the vintage accessories you have throughout your home. A girl after my own heart! Thanks so much for being a part our my fall tour.
Atta Girl Amy
Thanks so much, Kristi. I’m so glad you invited me to be a part of your tour. Maybe someday I’ll share the location of my favorite thrift store in Greensboro, but only if you promise not to poach all the goodies!
Sue Kistler
Just found a similar item from your fireplace display (the square wooden boards) at our local recycling store- I had no idea what it was till I was in an antique store on Saturday and the owner told me they were used to put under wood stoves to protect floors- yours in the third one I’ve seen in a week! I plan to use mine over my mantel and hang a wreath from it but I like the way you used it too! Love all your vintage touches- your home is warm and lovely!
Atta Girl Amy
Sue, thanks for sharing that with me. I knew this was used with a wood stove, based on what my friend told me. But neither of us knew exactly how it was used. So now I know! And isn’t it funny how things like that happen — something is new to you, and then suddenly it’s everywhere.
I would love to see what yours looks like over your mantel. If you think about it, send me a photo!
kristin
Everything is just so beautiful and I love those touches of blue throughout!
Jessica
I love the trophies!!! They give that Ralph Lauren vibe which I adore. Your home shines all dressed for fall! Thanks for sharing your collections.
Atta Girl Amy
Ooh, Ralph Lauren. I love it! I’m going to use that phrase next time I write about the trophies.
Nancy @ Artsy Chicks Rule
Everything looks so pretty Amy! I love all the different colored pumpkins in and around your home. That tray full of colored pumpkins is my favorite thing! 🙂
Kim
So many gorgeous and elegant fall touches in your home, Amy, I love them all, especially your use of color. Happy hopping!
