Try this seasonal craft cocktail twist on the traditional mojito recipe. This one combines blueberries and basil with lime juice and rum. Fresh flavors with a kick!
Last month cherries were in season, and this month we’re picking blueberries and harvesting fresh herbs from the garden for a craft mojito recipe.
You can only make so many batches of blueberry muffins and so much pesto. So why not mix up a fresh craft cocktail featuring the two seasonal flavors?
The first time I saw blueberries and basil together in a glass, I wasn’t sure what to think about the combo. But I decided to trust the bartender and give it a swig.
Make it a double!

With its combination of blueberries, basil, lime and rum, this cocktail is packed with fresh flavors with a kick. It has just a hint of sweet (thanks to the addition of a single packet of Sweet’N Low® zero-calorie sweetener.) Normally, a mojito recipe would call for the use of simple syrup, and you can make this cocktail that way. But by using a no-calorie sweetener instead, you can cut out quite a few calories and still enjoy the sweetness of this cocktail.
I’d serve this cocktail at brunch or outside a hot summer day — anytime you’re looking for a light and refreshing mixed drink. It’s the perfect deck or porch cocktail.
Let’s make one.
