I am counting the days until summer.
The end of school and lazier days can’t get here soon enough. Until then, I’m just pretending life’s a beach…
I’ll be sharing the details of this fun kid-friendly backyard beach party soon. But today, I’m sharing a tutorial for how to make one of the simplest beach party decorations ever.
If you can use scissors and a glue gun, you can make this fun beach towel party banner.
It’s my project for this month’s no-sew showcase with fellow bloggers Debbie from Confessions of a Plate Addict, Christy from Our Southern Home, Yvonne from StoneGable, Barb from The Everyday Home and Jennifer from Town and Country Living.
Be sure to check out their projects at the end of this post.
To make the beach towel party banner, start with a fun print beach towel. (I got mine from Walmart.)
You’ll also need a bunting template. I used just printed it out on regular computer paper.
Next, I used the pattern to cut out six flags for my party banner.
I cut along the top of the towel so I’d have one finished edge. You could add fray check to the raw edges to keep them from raveling further, but I didn’t bother since we were going to be using the banner outside.
Finally, I ran a bead of hot glue along the top of each flag and glued them to some pretty yellow grosgrain ribbon. Be sure you space them evenly.
Now all that’s left is to hang the banner and throw a party!
Be sure to check out these other great no-sew projects.

Beach house? I’m thinking we need a no-sew retreat at your beach house! I’ll bring the party banner. And I’m so happy to have you as part of our group.
Barb @ The Everyday Home
Amy you are a woman of many talents, but somehow along the way you lost your calling for being a Party Planner Extraordinaire b/c I have never seen anyone who could plan and pull off a party is no much detail as you can. It is amazing. All the colors and all the elements. You can come plan my granddaughters birthday party next week, ok? 🙂
Good job, my friend. xxoo, Barb

Aww, you are too sweet, Barb! I don’t have the temperament to be a professional party planner, but I sure do enjoy throwing them them for my friends and family. And I’m betting that little Caity’s party is going to be fabulous without my help. But I’d love the chance to throw a super girly party sometime!
Yvonne @ StoneGable
Amy… how adorable! I love how you can put a party together. Your Jackson is one lucky little guy!!!! So fun partying with you! Happy Mother’s Day, my friend!
Atta Girl Amy
Jackson did think this was the best party ever because it featured lots of sugar, cheese puffs and all the Kool-Aid he and his friends could drink. And water balloons, too! Poor Bruce — they kept him busy filling up water balloons! So fun to party with you every month.
Jennifer @ Town and Country Living
So many pretty colors and perfect for summer! I always love a cute banner.
Atta Girl Amy
Thanks, Jennifer. These colors definitely too me back to my neon 80s period!
