Make a style statement as unique as you are by painting some wooden bangle bracelets to dress up your spring wardrobe.

I’m a woman who loves accessories because they’re such an easy way to showcase your personal style. And unlike clothes, you don’t have to worry that your favorite scarf, jewelry or purse won’t fit!

This month, DecoArt challenged a group of bloggers, designers and artists to use our creative skills and their paint to transform some plain wooden bangle bracelets from DIYBangles.com.

Paint isn't just for home decor and craft projects. You can use it to up your fashion game, too. I love this hand painted wooden bangle bracelets. #DecoArtprojects #sponsored

I took a cue from my spring wardrobe, which is heavy on coral and aqua, to choose my color palette.

These painted wooden bangle bracelets would make a great Mother's Day gift. There are so many different ways to decorate these. I love the coral and aqua color combination used on these. #decoartprojects #sponsored

And since I love a vintage meets modern aesthetic, I decorated my bangles with modern abstract patterns — brushstrokes and a colorful leopard prints. But I had to throw in a little vintage element — those beads you see on the chunkier bracelet.

I received two dome-style bangle bracelets — a thick chunky one and a narrower one.

I started out by painting the interior of the larger bracelet in Aqua Waters Maxx Gloss paint.

I used the same color on the outside of the smaller bracelet. I used two coats of the super-glossy, no-prep paint to get the coverage I wanted.

Next, I finished painting the bracelets — White China for the outside of the chunkier one, and Juicy Melon for the interior of the thinner one. Again, I used two coats.

This was the fun part — decorating each bracelet.

Since brushstokes are a hot thing in design right now, I added random Juicy Melon brushstrokes to the aqua bracelet. To get the look I wanted, I made sure there wasn’t much paint on my brush and criss-crossed randomly across the bracelet.

For the chunkier bracelet, I added random coral animal print blobs.

Once they were dry, I filled in the centers with aqua paint. I used a fine artist’s paint brush, as well as cotton swabs. (I pulled off most of the cotton on one swab to fill in the smaller animal print markings.)

This was my first time painting with Maxx Gloss, and I love the hard, shiny finish. No need for a top coat when you use this.

For a finishing touch, I deconstructed a vintage beaded clip earring I had and used E6000 to glue it onto the bracelet to add a little bling.

I have to say I love how these hand painted bangle bracelets turned out. They’re the perfect pair to dress up a spring outfit, and they would make a great Mother’s Day gift.

I kinda want to change out of my painting clothes and get dressed up so I can show them off.

These projects just go to show you that paint isn’t just for furniture, home improvement projects or crafts. You can also use it to keep up with fashion trends.
