Disclosure: I received a free single-cup coffee brewer, plus another for a giveaway, in exchange for sharing information about Keurig and its local trade-in sampling events. All opinions are my own.
Please don’t talk to me before I’ve had my morning cup of coffee.
Ah, now that’s better. Eyelids open. Neurons firing. Humanity restored. Civility maintained.
Every morning, I stumble out of bed and shuffle to the kitchen like a zombie from the “Walking Dead,” beelining it to my Keurig brewer. A push of a button, and just a few seconds later, I’m mainlining caffeine and all is right with the world.
I’ve been a Keurig owner for four years, and I can honestly say Keurig revolutionized my mornings. (Be sure to read on to the end of the post to see how you can win your own Keurig brewer, too! And if you’re local to the Triad region of North Carolina, you’ll have a chance to sample Keurig-brewed coffee and trade in your old coffeemaker for a Keurig single-cup version — FOR FREE!)
My husband doesn’t drink coffee, and I usually only need a cup to get me going in the mornings. (OK, sometimes two!)
Before I got a Keurig,I tried unsuccessfully to brew just enough for me in a regular drip coffee maker. But I never could get the proportions right. I ended up brewing coffee that was too strong or too weak or brewing way too much and dumping it down the sink. I fared no better with a French press.
But with my Kuerig, I can brew a perfect cup every time — just enough coffee to bring me me back from Zombieland!
Thanks to the generous folks at Keurig, I recently upgraded to the Keurig® K65 Special Edition Brewing System, which gives me a choice of three cup sizes, plus the ability to adjust the water temperature and to set an on-off timer so the brewer is ready whenever I need my coffee.
I particularly love being able to program the brewer to come on in the morning before I get up. The K65 also has a replaceable water filter, which I love, since we have a community well.
Before I go to bed at night, I load a fresh K-Cup in my brewer and set out my favorite mug. Now, it takes me literally seconds to make my morning cup of coffee.
In the morning, I usually brew up a cup of breakfast blend or another light roast coffee, but sometimes I’ll go for a flavored brew, like hazelnut, caramel or French vanilla. Keurig K-Cups come in more than 250 varieties: coffee, tea, hot cocoa, cider and blended drinks. Over the years, I think I’ve tried them all.
My 6-year-old son is a big fan of Keurig’s hot chocolate (and my husband is, too!)
I love that with my new brewer I can adjust the temperature down for him. (I do still add some ice cubes, to be safe.)
And speaking of ice cubes, the Keurig isn’t just for hot drinks. There are many brew-over-ice K-Cups you can purchase, including iced coffee and Snapple iced tea.
Or my latest obsession, the Doughnut Shop Sweet & Creamy Iced Coffee. This has been my mid-morning indulgence for the past few weeks. (Or sometimes I’ll have a cup at 3 p.m., when the afternoon doldrums hit and I’m struggling to keep my eyes open.)
While I wish I could have you all over to my house for a Keurig coffee party, that’s not really practical.
But if you live near me in the Triad region of North Carolina, here’s the next best thing:
To increase awareness in the Triad area, Keurig is hosting a series of sampling and brewer exchange events through Sept. 27
Just look at all those people lined up at Center City park to trade in their old drip coffee machines and trade up to a brand new, free Keurig single-cup brewer!
The “Trade Up to a Keurig Brewer” events are open to participants 18 years of age or older with proof of North Carolina residence. Only non-Keurig, used, electric brewers are eligible for trade-in, while supplies last.
Keurig also will be giving away nearly 75,000 free cups of coffee and other fresh-brewed premium beverages at sampling events throughout the region.
The next trade-in and sampling event is Saturday, Sept. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in the Aquatic Center parking lot. For more details and a full schedule of Keurig trade-in and sampling events in the Triad, visit http://www.keurig.com/triad.
And if you don’t live in these parts, don’t fret. You also have a chance to experience Keurig.
I’m giving away a Keurig K65 Special Edition Brewing System to one lucky winner.
