It’s no secret that I like to change things up around my house.
But that means things are constantly going on and off display. My office and the guest bedroom closet, plus a drawer here and a drawer there had been functioning as a dumping ground makeshift storage, and that wasn’t working for me.
I needed a central spot to store my home accessories and decor items when they’re not in use. So, you can imagine how excited I was when Trinity reached out to bloggers who were interested in getting organized.

My plan was to create a dedicated prop styling area in my home, where my unused accessories are organized, easy to see and easy to access.

I was inspired to group items by color (and material) after seeing a behind-the-scenes catalog shoot at Inspired by Charm.

This project is helping me achieve several of my big goals and resolutions for the year. I’m getting more organized (a constant struggle). I’m enjoying, using and loving what I already own. And I think this will make me a more prolific blogger, too, because I won’t have to spend so much time hunting the house for props when I decide I want to redecorate, do a photo shoot or share a project. I know where everything is now!
To make my prop closet vision a reality, I chose Trinity’s 5-tier chrome storage shelf on wheels.

The hardest part about putting the unit together was probably carrying it upstairs. Steel is heavy! But that’s a good thing in a wire shelving rack.

My son helped me put it together, and we didn’t even have to break out the tool box. (Or a comb!) My husband gave an assist with putting a few of the shelves on, since at 6-feet, the unit is taller than I am.
When we were finished putting the shelf together, I rolled it into our walk-in attic space and got to work collecting accessories from around the house and organizing.
The shelves are super sturdy, so I really don’t have to worry about overloading them.

I opted to add an optional sidebar and hooks to my shelving unit so I can hang wreaths and baskets when they’re not in use.

The shelf I picked already had one storage bar, and I’ve hung more baskets and a vintage bee skep from S-hooks on the other side. I figure you can never have enough storage.
I am loving my magazine stylist inspired “prop closet” in the attic.
