One of my favorite summertime indulgences/obsessions is Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade.
But at $4 a pop, that’s one steep glass of tea. (Sorry for the pun.)
But I figured out how brew up an at-home version for pennies per serving, which means I can get my fix any time I want.
For my version of Passion Tea Lemonade, or as my husband calls it, “a girly Arnold Palmer, you need:
4 Tazo Passion Fruit tea bags (or more, if you like a stronger brew)
1 container frozen lemonade from concentrate
simple syrup or sweetener of your choice
Prepare frozen lemonade according to package directions. Divide prepared lemonade into two 2-quart pitchers.
Boil two cups of water in microwave and steep tea in hot water.
Pour half of tea into each pitcher. Fill to the top with more water.
Serve over ice, sweetening to taste with simple syrup, sugar, Splenda, agave nectar or other sweetener of your choice.
I usually add one packet to Splenda to each glass, the same way I order it at Starbucks. If I’m feeling fancy, I’ll add a pump a raspberry syrup and a Splenda to a venti-sized glass of tea. That’s a trick I learned from my local barista.
