The Atta Says is participating in its second craft fair this weekend, Craft at the Crossing in Huntersville, N.C. I’ve been painting furniture what seems like morning, noon and night — and sometimes in my sleep.
I feel like I’ve worn nothing but paint-spattered clothing for weeks, and there’s some truth to that. Last weekend, my husband and I got dressed up to go to a party. I’d been painting all day and stopped a few hours before party time so I could shower and print. I put on a cut sundress and some summer sandals and was feeling quite pleased with how well I’d cleaned up. Until my mom, who was babysitting or us that night, said, “You have paint on your ankle.”
And I did. Duck Egg Blue. Or maybe it was Provence. Either way, it matched my dress. So there!
My parents came today, and my mom and I spent all day in the garage painting, distressing and waxing furniture — basically putting on the finishing touches. I couldn’t have gotten all done without her.
In addition to our normal inventory of handpainted signs, pillows, aprons, rolled flower flip-flops and other handmade goodies, here are a few things we’ll have for sale at Craft at the Crossing this weekend:

Closeup of the vanity/desktop. The color is a custom mix of chalk paint, which reminds me of the color of old money.
I now understand why so many bloggers photograph their finished pieces in their yard. The thought of hauling all this furniture inside to style it and shoot it. then taking it back outside to load in the truck, makes my back hurt. So, I just hauled it and some accessories out into the backyard. My 2 1/2 year old neighbor, Reagan, helped me “style” some of the vignettes. I think she has a knack. And please ignore the clover, tall grass and general sad state of our yard. Looks like I’m going to have to fire the lawn boy, but I do so enjoy his visits!
I’ll show some before and afters of these pieces later this week.
And if you live in the Charlotte area, come out to Craft at the Crossing on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m .at Birkdale Crossing Shopping Center, 9525 Birkdale Crossing Drive in Huntersville.
